Summary

At a Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 23rd day of March 1853
Present: M^r J H Warman, M^r Cha^s Hooper, Fren^k Eycott, Hen^y Harris, Will^m Fryer, T C Croome, G H A Beard, Cha^s H Fisher, Rich^d Martin Chairman.
This Meeting was called in consequence of further correspondence and communication between M^r Hawker & M^r Taunton and M^r Prideaux on the question of the tonnages which have been discussed between the Committee and the Committee of the Thanes & Severn Canal Company and M^r Taunton attended with full authority to represent and act for the Thames & Severn Canal Company.
It was proposed that the Sum of One Shilling and sixpence should be charged on all Coals carried through this Canal into the Thames & Severn Canal and landed between Wallbridge and Brimscombe Wharf of that Canal and that this tonnage should be divided between this Company and the Thames and Severn Canal Company in equal proportions.
It was also proposed that the sum of sixpence per ton should be charged by this Company on all Coals carried through this Canal and passing to and beyond the Brimscombe Wharf.
These proposals have been fully discussed and M^r Taunton having explained that he considered this to be a final proposal on the part of the Thames and Severn Canal Company and that if any further alteration should be required or reduction be deemed expedient on the Tonnage of Coals carried into the Thames and Severn Canal and landed at Brimscombe Wharf and any places eastward thereof such alterations should be made and reductions should be borne exclusively by the Thames and Severn Canal Company.

It was Resolved that the said proposals be acted upon and that the Tonnage charged by this Company shall be regulated accordingly and that the alteration shall come into operation after the 31st Ins^t.
