At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 27th day of April 1853
Present: M^r J H Warman, M^r C H Fisher, Fred^k Eycott, T C Croome, G H A Beard, W^m Fryer, Rich^d Martin Chairman.
The various Books accounts and Vouchers signed by M^r Cooper the Auditor and certified to be correct were produced and examined.
The Treasurers Book was produced examined and signed.
Thomas Clutterbuck of Cainscross attended on behalf of Jane Jacomb of Tunbridge Wells in the County of Kent Spinster and made out her Claim as Residuary Legatee under the Will of Elizabeth Dorothy Jacomb late of Tonbridge Wells aforesaid Spinster deceased to two Shares N^os 57 and 107 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation lately belonging to and now standing in the name of the said Elizabeth Dorothy Jacomb in the Books of the Stroudwater Navigation by producing the Probate of the Will of the said Elizabeth Dorothy Jacomb bearing date the fourteenth day of March 1844 whereby she bequeathed the remainder of her vested Property (?) the said Jane Jacomb and appointed the said Jane Jacomb and Charles Jacomb Jun^r Executors of her said Will which was duly proved by the said Charles Jacombe alone in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on the 21^st day of March 1853 and also by producing the Tickets or Titles to the said Shares and the direction of the said Charles Jacombe to Claim the said Shares in the name of the said Jane Jacomb and the Claim of the said Jane Jacomb to the said two Shares is hereby admitted accordingly.
Ordered that the Annual Stoppage of this Canal for repairs be commenced on Monday May 30 and continue until the following Saturday June 5^th both day s inclusive.
Ordered that an addition of One Shilling per Week be made to the Wages of each of the four Laborers now usually employed on the Canal.
