At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held on board the Company's Boat on Wednesday the 13^th day of August 1856
Present: M^r J H Warman, M^r H Harris Chairmand, C Hawker, T C Croome, W^m Fryer, G H A Beard, C Hooper, F Eycott.
Ordered that sundry repairs which appeared to be required to the Wharf Wall & Fences & to the House at Dudbridge be effected as also some to the Culvert at Bonds Mill.
The Committee inspected the Works at Ryeford which had been effected by the Sub Committee pursuant to the resolutions passed on the 1^st June & 22^d August 1855 & having heard from the Sub Committee that Mess^rs Ford had made such concessions of further Land on the North side of the canal as in their opinion obviated the objections to the works which occasioned the Resolution passed on the 14^th May last & that advantage had been taken of the Stoppage at Whitminster to effect the works in connection with repairs of a sudden falling in of the Bank.
It was resolved that the works done by the Sub Committee having been efficiently carried out to the satisfaction of this Committee be adopted & approved.
A Letter from Mess^rs Ford Brothers dated 12^th August Ins't on the subject of the Tonnages on corn & Wheat carried down the Canal was read and considered.
Resolved that Mess^rs Ford be informed that the Committee wish to see the result of the trade on the Canal which the Mess^rs Ford propose to carry on before making an alteration in the Tonnages when they will be ready to take into consideration any point which may appear from experience to be mutually advantageous.
Resolved that Mess^rs Elliott & Restalls bill be paid: 11^£..9^s..8^d
