Summary

General Half Yearly Meeting.
Tonnage since 1 October 1856 £2242 17s 4d. After wages, etc, £1532 19s 6d profit. Dividend of £7 10s declared.
Committee to investigate the rights of Company in respect of bridge between mills and other premises at Ebley occupied by Mr Samuel Marling & Co. now used in conveyance of coals not carried by the Canal with view to steps being taken to prevent carriage of such coals to the loss of the company.
Mr Partridge’s salary to be increased to £120 per annum.

At a General Half Yearly Meeting of the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 22^d day of April 1857
C Hawkins Fisher in the Chair.
The Minutes of the last General Assembly were read approved and confirmed.
The several Books and Accounts were produced as directed by the Act of Parliament and were examined and passed.
It appears that the sum of 2241^£..17^s..4^d has been received for Tonnage, etc, from the 1^st day of October last to the 1^st day of April 1857 part of which has been applied towards the payment of Wages Disbursements, etc, and then there remains in the hands of the Treasurer after paying the last Dividend the sum of 1532^£..19^s..6^d.
Ordered that a Dividend of £7..10 on each shared be declared payable on the first day of May next.
Ordered that the Committee for the Ensuing year does consist of ten members and the following Gentlemen were Elected members of the Committee:
M^r Beard, M^r Marling, M^r Eycott, M^r Harris, M^r Hawker, M^r Fryer, M^r Hooper, M^r Warman, M^r Martin, M^r Croome.
It was proposed by M^r Edwards and seconded by M^r Kearsey that the Committee do investigate the rights of the Company in respect of a bridge communicating between the Mills and other premises at Ebley occupied by Mess^rs Samuel Stephens Marling & Company, which bridge appears to be now used in the conveyance of coals not carried by the Canal with a view to such steps being taken as may if possible prevent the carriage of such coals to the loss of the Company and that such committee do report to a Special General Meeting to be called within 3 months from this time.
The above resolution was carried unanimously.
It was unanimously resolved that M^r Partridge's Salary be increased to £120 per annum, such increase to commence from the 25^th March last.
