Summary

Mr Lane complained he sustained loss because of waste water from canal running through circular weir at Ebley past his mill. Suggested that new weir be constructed above house at the Oil Mills, six feet in length one inch lower than the circular weir. Company to put in weir under the towing path. Mr Lane to bear expense of taking away the water.
Mr Lane asked for reduction 1 penny per ton in tonnage on corn carried to Oil Mills.
Mr Ford should be allowed to carry converted timber down canal free of tonnage.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 16^th day of December 1857
Present: M^r J H Warman, M^r T C Croome Chairman, H^y Harris, C Hooper, C Hawker, N S Marling.
M^r Partridge reported that both M^r George Nurse and M^r Geo Williams paid the additional tonnage referred to in the minutes of the last Meeting.
M^r Lane attended and complained that he sustained loss by reason of the waste water from the Canal running through the Circular Wear at Ebley past his Mill and suggesteed that a New Wear should be constructed above the House at Oil Mills lately occumpied by M^r WIll^m Hall one inch below the Height of the Circular Wear with an outfall into the mill pond above the Oil Mills, such Wear to be six feet in length. The Company to put in the new Wear under the towing path and M^r Lane to be at the expense of taking away the water.
M^r Lane also asked for a reduction of 1^d per Ton in the Tonnage on corn carried to the Oil Mills.
These proposals were taken into consideration and it was resolved that a Meeting of the Committee be held at the Oil Mills on Wednesday next at 12 O'Clock to view the spot with a view to a decision on the matter and that M^r S S Marling be asked to be present in order to express his opinion in case he should feel interested in the question.
M^r Ford attended and proposed that in case timber should be carried up the Canal for conversion he should be allowed to carry the converted timber down the Canal free of tonnage.
M^r Ford was informed that the Committee could not give an answer until he could state the amount of timber likely to be carried. He thereupon stated that the amount of Tonnage should not be less than 500 tons per year and was promised an answer on Wednesday next.
M^r Ford was asked for payment of the amount of rents due from him and promised his decision at the Committee Meeting of next month.
