At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Thursday April 25 1861
Present: M^r Eycott Chairman, M^r Hawker, M^r Beard, M^r Warman, M^r Croome, M^r Harris M^r Hooper.
The various accounts Books and Vouchers signed by M^r Cooper the Auditor and certified to be correct were produced and examined and passed.
The Treasurer's Book was produced examined and signed.
M^r Henry Harris of Cainscross near Stroud Solicitor attended on behalf of Richard Charles Mellish of Eaton Place Belgrave Square in the County of Middlesex Esquire The Reverend George Rolleston of Maltby in the County of York Clerk and Thomas Edward Preseton Lefroy of N^o 5 Pump Court Temple London Barrister at Law and made our their Claim as Executors under the Will and Codicil of Lancelot Chambers of Morden in the County of Surrey Esquire deceased to five Shares numbered respectively 133, 160, 161, 164 and 165 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation lately belonging to and now standing in the name of the said Lancelot Chambers deceased in the Books of the said Company of Proprietors of the said Navigation by producing the Probate of the will of he said Lancelot Chambers bearing date the 23^d day o March 1858 and proved with a Codicil in the Principal Registry of Her Majesty's Court of Probate on the 20^th day of March 1861 by all the said Executors and also producing the Tickets or Title to the said Shares and their Claim was admitted accordingly and new Tickets were ordered to be made out.
M^r Harris reported that M^r James Nurse being unable to meet his Engagements has called his Creditors together since the last Meeting -- That at the Meeting of Creditors which M^r Harris attended it was proposed that M^r Nurse should make a general (?) for the benefit of his Creditors and a deed having been prepared accordingly It was ordered that M^r Partridge do sign the same on behalf of this Company.
M^r Driver reported that a portion of the Wall abutting on the Severn at Framilode on the North side of the Entrance to the Canal had given way and required immediate repair and produced as specification and Estimate by M^r Oliver Cam for Executing the work for the sum of £52, ordered that the work be done under the Superintendence and to the satisfaction of the Surveyor.
Ordered that the following be paid:
Income Tax one quarter due 20 March: 37..4..10
