Company solicitor to communicate with solicitors of proposed railway companies viz. Wilts and Gloucestershire and Stonehouse & Nailsworth extension to Stroud, and arrange all proper clauses for protection of Canal interests be inserted in those bills now before Parliament.
Discussed competition on Bullo household coal, reduction of tonnage at Downfield and impossibility, under existing Act of Parliament, of reducing tonnage at Wallbridge. Very desirable to open a public wharf. Mr Knee offered small property opposite Gas Works at Downfield, with all erections, for £280. Offer accepted.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 8^th day of March 1864

Resolved that the Solicitors of the Company communicated with the Solicitors of the proposed Railway Companies (viz) the Wilts and Gloucestershire and the Stonehouse and Nailsworth Extension to Stroud and arrange all proper clauses for the protection of the Canal Interests be inserted in those Bills now before Parliament,
Referring to the competition on the Bullo household Coal and the reduction of Tonnage at Downfield and the impossibility under the existing Act of Parliament to make any reduction of Tonnage at Wallbridge it was deemed very desirable to become Owners of property on which we could open a public Wharf. M^r Knee having having purchased a small property opposite the Gas Works at Downfield and having offered the same with all erections for the sum of £280,
Resolved that such offer be accepted and that the same be conveyed to the Company immediately.
Ordered that the next Half Yearly Meeting be held on the 26^th April next at two o'Clock and the Committee meeting at one o'clock.
