Summary

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 17^th day of May 1864
Present: M^r F Eycott, M^r G H A Beard Chairman, J H Warman, W W Kearsey, T M Croome, C Hawker.
M^r Partridge reported that M^r Taunton has communicated to hem, that the Thames & Severn Canal Company has confirmed his, M^r Taunton's, proposal to reduce the rates of Tonnage as named in the Minutes of the last General Half Yearly Meeting and that the reduction do take place from the 18^th Instant, and that he had signed a mutual Notice with this Company's Clerk to the Traders to that effect.
M^r G B Smith and M^r G Ford attended in regard to the proposed Railway Bridge crossing the Canal at Stonehouse, and requested the Committee to meet M^r Bruce their Engineer at 11 o'clock on Wednesday the 18^th Ins't in order to arrange as to the width of the Towing path & the erection of the Bridge.
Resolved that a Sub-Committee be appointed consisting of Mess^rs Eycott Beard Warman and Hooper & that M^r Baker the Surveyor be requested to attend at the same time & place on the part of the Canal Company,
Resolved that the Clerk advertize for a Surveyor, and that the following Notice be sent to the Gloucester Jouranl & Gloucester Chronicle and the Midlands County Herald.
Wanted a person for the situation of Assistant Surveyor and Superintendant of the Stroudwater Navigation. He must be thoroughly competent to see to all repairs of Bridges, Banks, Lock, and other works, and good references will be required.
Address with statement of previous employment, references, and amount of Salary required to M^r Partridge Clerk of the Company Wallbridge Stroud.
Ordered that a Special Committee Meeting be called for Wednesday the 25^th Ins't to arrange the rates of Tonnage and for general business.
