Summary

Plan for land at Stonehouse Wharf between Company, Mr Harrison, and Stonehouse & Nailsworth Railway Company, Mr Bruce, approved and signed.
Request from Mr G B Smith, solicitor to Stonehouse & Nailsworth Railway Company, to let off water to enable the Company to do works in connection with bridge over canal at Stonehouse. Water to be drawn off at 12 o’clock on 14 October on terms of payment agreed in Railway Act. Bridge and all relating to it to be made in accordance with the Act. Settlement requested of large claim which already exists.
S S Marling’s proposal to raise road at exit from Ryeford Wharf and raise wharf not accepted.
G Hathaway, H Hawkins, S Leighton, W Powell, J Andrews, J Clark – acts against Company’s Act and the Byelaws in last month. Penalties to be enforced against them unless they pay 5s respectively within a fortnight.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 18^th day of September 1866
Present: M^r J H Warman, H H Wilton Chairman, S^l Phipps, J C Hallewell, F S Thornton, T Marling, C Hooper, W W Kearsey.
A Plan was produced signed by M^r Harrison on the part of this Company and by M^r Bruce on the part of the Stonehouse and Nailsworth Railway C^o showing the proposed setting out of the Land at Stonehouse Wharf under the Agreement between the two Companies.
Resolved that the said Plan be approved and signed by the Chairman of this Meeting and that the Sub Committee are requested to continue to superintend the carrying out of the agreement entered into between the two Companies dated the 2^d of May 1863.
A Letter was read from M^r G B Smith the Solicitor to the Stonehouse & Nailsworth Railway C^o dated the 13^th Instant requesting this C^o be let off the Water of their Canal to enable the Stonehouse & Nailsworth Railway C^o to do certain works in connection with their Bridge over the Canal at Stonehouse.
Resolved that the Solicitor of this C^o do inform the Railway C^o that this Company will proceed to cause the water to be drawn off for the time required on the 14^th of October next at 12 o'clock PM upon the terms of payment provided by the clauses of the Railway Act and that he do at the same time stated that the Canal Company will require the Bridge and all relating to it to be made in accordance with the clauses before referred to, and he do also request a settlement of the large claim which already exists against the Railway Company under such clauses.
An application having been made by S S Marling Esquire for liberty to raise the Highway Road at the Exit from the Ryeford Wharf and as a compensation for the same to raise the aforesaid Wharf from the Water's Edge to the same extent of rise,
Resolved that a letter by written by the Clerk to M^r S S Marling to inform him that the Committee cannot entertain his proposal, as the same would if carried into effect be in their opinion prejudicial to the interest of the Canal.
Resolved that a Stoppage of this Canal do take place from the 14^th of October next at 12 PM to the 20^th Ins't at 12 PM.
M^r Peyton reported that G Hathaway, H Hawkins F Leighton, W Powell, J Andrews & J Clark had severally within the last month committed acts against the Company's Act and Bye Laws.
Resolved that the Clerk do inform each of them that proceedings will be taken to enforce the Penalties against them for their several offences unless within a fortnight they do respectively pay 5^s/ to the Clerk of the Company.
Ordered that the General Half Yearly Meeting be held on Thursday the 25^th day of October next 2 o'clock and the Clerk do give the usual Notices and that the Meeting of the Committee be held on the same day at 12.30 O'clock.
