At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 18^th day of December 1866
Present: M^r F S Thornton, T M Croome Chairman, T Marling, J C Hallewell, G H A Beard, C Hooper, S Phipps, W W Kearsey, J T Fisher, C H Fisher.
A Deputation attended from the Wheatenhurst Highway Board to discuss an alteration at the Stonehouse Wharf Bridge, and raising the road at Ryeford. This Committee after considering the first point, Resolved that if the Highway Board would make a specific proposition they will consider it with every desire to meet the wishes of the Board but that this Committee cannot incur any expense in the matter.
On the second point the Committee resolved that the Opinion of Counsel be taken as to the power of the Highway Board to make the alteration and that such Opinion be shown to the Board in return for their lending this Committee the Opinion taken by them.
Resolved that the annual Subscription of £2..0..0 be made to the Stroud Coal Fund.
M^r Peyton reported that J Clark on the 27^th November last the Master of the Barge Effect belonging to the Stratford Flour Mill Company wilfully wasted the water and drew the top paddles before the lower gate of the Westfield Lock were shut.
Resolved that unless J Clark pays 5^s/ the full Penalty to be enforced.
