Thomas Wells and others have complained about the inadequacy of the aqueduct near Lockham Bridge through which the River Stroudwater passes under the canal toward Whitminster Mill. An estimate to be obtained for a new aqueduct to be built with sufficient capacity for free flow of the river or the cost of a stone conduit. The work to be done when navigation of the canal is suspended due to work on the Gloucester & Berkeley Canal.
The removal of the corner of the warehouses at Wallbridge to be carried out provided the Commissioners of the transport road will exonerate the Company from any expense in repairing the arch on which the ground stands which the Company will take in lieu of the corner of the warehouse.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Tuesday the 24^th day of November 1818
Present: Henry Eycott, Rowles Scudamore, W W Darke, Rich^d Miller, Jn^o Morgan, P H Fisher, W^m Stanton, Jn^o Snowden, Tho Holbrow, Jn^o Holbrow, G Wathen.
It appearing from the complaint of M^r Thomas Webb & M^r (blank) as well as from other evidence that the Aqueduct near Lockham Bridge through which the River Stroudwater passes under the Canal towards the Whitminster Mill is inadequate to the free passage of water without injury to the Landholders above, Ordered that a new Aqueduct be made of sufficient capacity to allow the free passage of the River under the Canal & that estimates be immediately procured by our Clerk from competant Persons of the probable expences of the same & of the relative expences of making the same by an Iron or a Stone Culvert also of the relative probable time necessary for laying down the same. Order'd that the Aqueduct be put down at the time when the Navigation of the canal shall be suspended by the making of the works of the Gloster & Berkeley Canal for crossing the same.
Order'd that the resolution of the last General meeting with respect to removing the corner of the Warehouse at Walbridge be carried into effect provided the Commissioners of the turnpike Road will exonerate the Company from any expence in repairing the Arch on which the ground stands which is to be taken by the Company in lieu of the corner of the said Warehouse,
