Special Meeting. Letter to be sent to all proprietors advising against making promises and getting proxies supporting candidates for Clerk made by P H & S Fisher.
At a Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Thursday the 11^th Day of June 1840
Present: John Stanton, Joseph F Fisher, Rob^t Hughes, John Holbrow, Cosham, Samual Fisher, P H Fisher, Beard, Geo Wathen.
It being thought desirable to warn the Proprietors of the Canal against the promises of support to any individual applicant of the Office of Clerk of the Canal for which advertisements have been published & to withhold the giving of proxies to vote in the Choice of such Clertk until all the tenders and testimonies have been received and considered:-
Ordered that a letter be printed and sent to each proprietor to suggest the propriety of witholding such promises and proxies, by Mess^rs P H ^ S Fisher & C^o and that the letter presented to this Committee be the one adopted.
