Summary

William Rodger Richardson and Herbert Cooper claimed share no.61, will of Nathaniel Edgecombe.
Clerk reported that J Mills, captain of the barge Flora, did on the 30 November 1876 draw up the paddles of the Top lock of Five at Eastington before closing the bottom gate. Fined 2s 6d without prejudice or the full penalty will be enforced.
Henry Phipps, captain of the Thames and Severn Canal Co’s boat Alice, did on the 9 December 1876 tell his man to draw up the top paddles at the Blunder Lock before closing the bottom gates. Fined 2s 6d.
Mr Clegram given permission to put in a coffer dam near the Whitminster Lock to enable him to make the connection with the culverts of the new weir and the Stroudwater canal.
Mr Amos Field applied for 9s which he stated was wrongly charged for 35 tons of broken stone taken by the canal from Eastington to Stonehouse. The amount charged was correct and the allowance was not made.

Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Thursday the 18^th day of January 1877 @ 3,o,clock pm
Present: Mr G H A Beard Chairman, Mr J T Stanton, Mr S Phipps, Mr J T Fisher, Mr E C Little, Mr W W Kearsey, Mr Thos Marling.
[32] Mr W W Kearsey of Stroud in the County of Gloucester, Gentleman, attended on behalf of and under a written authority from William Rodgers Richardson of the City of Bristol, Solicitor, and Herbert Cooper formerly of Wootton Bassett in the County of Gloucester by now of Rosslyn Hill Hampstead in the County of Middlesex, Surgeon being executors named in the will of the Late Nathaniel Edgecombe formerly of Flora Cottage Kensington Place Clifton in the City of Bristol (who died on the 2^nd day of July 1876) and made out their claim to one share numbered 61 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation and now standing in the name of the said Nathaniel Edgecombe deceased in the books of the said Company of Proprietors, by producing the probate of the Will of the said Nathaniel Edgecombe deceased bearing date the 7^th day of July 1871, and proved in the District Registry attached to the Probate Division of Her Majestys High Court of Justice at Bristol on the 12^th day of October 1876.
And the Claim was admitted accordingly and a new ticket ordered to be made out on the ticket of title of the said Nathaniel Edgecombe deceased being delivered up.
[18] The Clerk reported, that J Mills Captain of the Barge "Flora" did on the 30^th day of November 1876 draw up the top paddles of the top Lock of the five at Eastington before closing the bottom gates.
Ordered that he pay a fine of 2.6 (without prejudice) or the full penalty will be enforced.
[18] The Clerk reported, that Henry Phipps Captain of the T&S Canal Cos boat "Alice" did on the 9^th day of December 1876 tell his man to draw up the top paddles at the Blunder Lock before closing the bottom gates.
Ordered that he be fined 2/6 (without prejudice) or the full penalty will be enforced.
[20] The Clerk read a letter received from Mr Clegram asking for permission to put in a coffer dam near the Whitminster Lock to enable him to make the connection with the culverts of the new Weir and the Stroudwater Canal.
Resolved that such permission be given and that the Clerk write to him.
[15] Mr Amos Field attended and applied for 9/- which he stated was wrongly charged for 35 tons of broken stone taken by Canal from Eastington to Stonehouse.
The matter was explained by the Clerk and it was found that the charge made was correct, and the allowance was not made.
