Henry Fallows reported Henry Lewis, boat Harriet, Charles Lewis, boat Good Intent, and William Gardner, captain of boat Alice, for various misdemeanours. It was ordered that a fine of 10s be charged in each case, and a summons be taken out in the case of default of payment.
Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Thursday the 25^th day of April 1878 @ 3,o,clock pm
Present: Mr G H A Beard Chairman, Mr J T Stanton, Mr W W Kearsey, Mr T Marling, Mr C H Hooper, Mr E C Little, Mr S Phipps, Mr T M Croome.
The various accounts, books & vouchers signed by Mr F Sturge the Auditor and certified to be correct were produced and passed.
The Treasurers books was produced examined and signed by the Chairman.
The following reports were made by the Foreman H Fallows:
[18] Henry Lewis owner of boat "Harriet" for leaving the Swing Bridge at the Ocean partially open.
[18] Charles Lewis working the boat "Good Intent" for drawing up the bottom paddle and part of another before closing the inside top gate at the top lock of the five, causing the gates to pass the fit 2½ inches.
[18] William Gardner captain of boat "Alice" did strap his boat to the balance pole on the off side gate at the Dock Lock..
[18] W^m Davies captain of boat "Endeavour" and Edward Clark Captain of barge "Emily" did on the 22^nd March 1878 stop the trade for one hour & ten minutes at the top of the five locks, after being ordered to remove their barges.
Ordered that in each case a fine of 10^s/- be imposed and in default of payment a summons to be taken out.
