Summary

Meeting of representatives of The Allied Navigation at Gloucester to be called for March 8th to consider the mutual interests Mr Marling and Mr Mills to attend the meeting as representing this Company.
Mr Stanton stated that the drains at Ebley had been turned over to the Rural Sanitary Authority and he believed that sewerage matter passed through the same and flowed into the Canal. Clerk was to see Mr Savage the Road Surveyor and ascertain if this is the case.
Mr Butt and Mr Critchley attended and stated that Mr Critchley would go back to Stonehouse Wharf if the Committee agreed. Mr Charles Critchley accepted as tenant of the house and stable situate at Stonehouse Wharf from the 25 March next under the terms which Mr John Butt now holds the same. Mr Critchley to pay for the Agreement.
Clerk to inform Mr Fallows, the Foreman at Eastington yard, to send the Stores Book up for every Committee meeting.
James Thomas fined £1 for forcing open with his boat Endeavour the bottom gates of the Whitminster or Shallow Lock, leaving the outside top gate closed, the top outside paddle up and not using the bottom ones.

Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 20^th day of February 1883 @ 3,o,clock pm
Present: Mr E C Little Chairman, Mr H H Mills, Mr W H Marling, Mr Jno Howard, Mr G H A Beard, Mr J T Stanton.
[52] Mr Little stated that he had attended with Mr Mills and Mr Snape a Meeting of representatives of the Allied Navigations held at the Canal office, Gloucester on the 25^th day of January at which the following resolutions were passed (viz):
Resolved that steps be taken to convene a Meeting of representatives of all the water interests between and inclusive of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal Company and the River Thames Conservancy, in order to consider in their mutual interest:
1. The present condition of the through water route.
2. Measures necessary to secure its efficiency and develop traffic thereon.
3. The best means of carrying out what may be found necessary.
That such Meeting be convened at the Canal office Gloucester, on Thursday the 8^th March, at 2pm.

[52] Resolved that Mr Marling & Mr Mills be requested to attend such Meeting as representing this Company.
[52] Mr Stanton stated that the drains at Ebley had been turned over to the Rural Sanitary Authority and that he had reason to believe that Sewerage matted passed through the same and flowed into the Canal.
The Clerk was instructed to see Mr Savage the Road Surveyor and ascertain if such is the case.
[56] Mr Butt and Mr Critchley attended and stated that arrangements had been made for Mr Critchley to go back to Stonehouse wharf if the Committee would give their sanction to a change of Tenancy.
Resolved that Mr Charles Critchley be accepted as Tenant of the House and Stable situate of Stonehouse wharf from the 25^th March next upon the terms under which Mr John Bull now holds the same, subject to the arrangement with Butt not being broken, but in the event of Mr Critchley not carrying out the said arrangement, Butt to remain the Tenant of the Company. Mr Critchley to pay for the Agreement.
[34] The Clerk was instructed to inform H Fallows the Foreman at Eastington yard, that for the future, Commencing on the 20^th March next, he was to send the Stores Book up for every Committee Meeting.
[18] The Clerk reported that James Thomas did on the 9^th day of February wilfully force open with his boat "Endeavour" the bottom gates of the Whitminster or Shallow Lock and pass out of the same leaving the outside top gate closed, and that he left the top outside paddle up and did not use the bottom ones.
Ordered that he be fined £1 to be paid within 21 days for to-day, in default of payment within the time named a Summons to be taken out and the full penalty of 40/- to be enforced.
