Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 11^th day of December 1883 @ 3,o,clock pm
Present: Mr J T Stanton Chairman, Mr H H Mills, Mr W Davies junr, Sir W H Marling Barg, Mr Jno Howard, Mr A J M Ball, Mr G H A Beard, Mr E F Gyde.
[24] The present Fire Insurance of the Companys property was discussed and a list submitted by the Clerk whereupon he was directed to see the Insurance Agent in order that the insurance might be readjusted and in some respects increased.
[54] The Clerk reported that Mr Jefferies had put in a Catch pit as stipulated in the agreement of the 18^th June last and that the outlet pipe (9") was lower than the inlet pipe so that when the canal was full there was about 5 inches of water flowing in and out and carrying anything on the surface of the water in the pit into the Canal, and therefore not answering the purpose it was intended for, Mr Snape was instructed to see Mr Jefferies on the subject with a view to its being altered.
[39] The Clerk stated that having procured an estimate from Messrs Webb & Spring to supply Oak at 4/3 cube foot (which would be a saving upon Mr Mayo's estimate of about £6) he had consulted the Chairman and Mr Beard who agreed that the purchase should be made of Messrs Webb & Spring, and the order was given to them. The Committee approved of this.
[4] The Clerk reported that the Stroud Gas Co men had damaged the Crown of the arch of the nutshell Bridge by putting pipes over it at Stonehouse Church, that he had accordingly called the attention of Mr Whithy (the Chairman of the Gas Co_ to the matter who had promised to attend to it.
