Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 20^th day of September 1892 @ 3,o,clock pm
Present: Mr E C Little Chairman, Mr C H Hooper, Sir W H Marling Bart, Mr Jno Howard, Mr W J Stanton, Mr E P Little.
Ordered that the next Committee Meeting be held on Tuesday the 25^th day of October 1892 @ 3,o,clock pm and the General Half-yearly Meeting on the same day at 3.30pm.
The reopening of Stratford Mills, the traffic to the same, and the rages on grain thereto again formed the subject of consideration and discussion when it was resolved that with a view to encourage Canal traffic the tonnage charge upon grain consigned and conveyed to these Mills should be reduced from 1/- to 8^d per ton and that those upon flour taken from the Mills down the Canal should be reduced to 6^d per ton.
The use made by owners and occupiers of property at Ebley of the Canal for drainage purposes was again discussed and it was arranged that the Clerk should meet Sir W H Marling on some early day to inspect the course of such drainage.
The Clerk reported that the traffic on the Thames and Severn Canal was entirely stopped owing to shortness of Water above Daneway -- that there had been no pumping from the Well at Thames head to supply the Canal -- and that this stoppage of Traffic had become more than ever prejudicial to the interests of the Stroudwater Canal. It was thereupon determined that the Clerk should enquire into the matter and make a personal attendance at Kemble to ascertain the cause of the traffic being stopped, and report to the next meeting.
