Verbatim text

[From Fo 204] above sum, such Resolution inviting the acquiescence of this Company and the other Navigation and Public Bodies. Sir W H Marling Bart, Chairman of the Thames and Severn Canal Trust, further explained the details of the proposal, and it was Resolved unanimously:-
"That in case the sum of £2.000 shall be borrowed by the Thames and Severn Canal Trust, in excess of the £15,000 which by the Thames and Severn Canal Trust Act 1895, they are authorised to borrow on the security therein mentioned, the Committee will not object to the interest at 4 per scent per annum on such sum of £2,000 being included in the Accounts of the Canal Trust, and provided and paid in the same manner as the interest payable under paragraph (D) of section 35 of the said Act, provided all the Navigations and Public Bodies liable under the Act to contribute towards any deficiency in the income from the Canal, will concur in and sanction the course, and pay their proportionate parts of such interest."
The desirability of ascertaining "Through Rates" was mentioned, and it was decided to use such means for doing so, as may be advised by the Solicitor of the Company.
