[1905 November.] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 15^th day of November 1905 @ 4.15 o'clock pm
Present: Mr C H Hooper, Chairman, Mr E P Little, Sir W H Marling Bart, Mr F A Little, Mr W J Stanton, Mr W Davies, Mr P J Evans, Mr A J M Ball, Mr Whittingham, Solicitor in attendance.
[Mr Acton re rent. House at Dudbridge] The Clerk reported that Mr Acton had not paid his rent due October 25:- and it was agreed that he must leave the house at Dudbridge Wharf. It was placed in the hands of the Solicitors to effect this.
[Ryeford Bridge] In reference to the injury to the Ryeford Bridge by Mr Brunsdons Locomotive, there appearing to the Committee to be some question as to the structure of the arch, Mr Snape was instructed to take an opportunity to see Mr Brunsdon personally, and tell him we had taken a considerate view, and should not press our claim, but that he must in future ask and obtain the leave of the Company, according to the published notice, before taking Locomotives over the Canal bridges.
[Ship Inn Messrs Smith & Sons lease] Messrs Smith & Sons' wish for an Extension of the Lease of the 'Ship Inn', at £40 per annum (as at present) was discussed, and, in view of the recognised uncertainty as to the working of the Compensation Clauses of the Licensing Act 1904, it was considered desirable to _postpone_ any conclusion as to the terms of the Extension, especially as the present Lease runs to 1908. But, as Mr Smith desires an assurance that his wish will be complied with, Mr Snape was instructed to invite him to call on the Company's Solicitors, to discuss the terms of a mutually satisfactory agreement, to that end.
[Bye-laws] Copies of the new Bye-Laws were placed at the service of the members of the Committee.
