[1906 April] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 25^th day of April 1906 @ 4.15 pm
Present: Mr C H Hooper, Chairman, Mr P J Evans, Mr E P Little, Mr F A Little, Sir W H Marling Bart, Mr W Davies, Mr A J M Ball (late), Mr Whittingham, Solicitor in attendance.
[Ship Inn] Mr Whittingham reported a conversation with Mr Smith as to the renewal of the Lease of the 'Ship' Inn. Mr Smith now demurs to a period of "14 years", - Mr Whittingham was instructed to endeavour to negociate _this term_ with Mr Smith, if not, one of _ten_ years, but in any case, on condition that the present Lease is surrendered.
[Stonehouse Court Estate] The Clerk reported having seen Mr F Winterbotham, with the result of the due correction of the plan of the 'Stonehouse Court Estate' shortly to be offered for sale.
[Canals Association] The Chairman read a circular copy of Minutes of a recent Meeting of the 'Canals Association', mainly in reference to a Resolution, that any of its members desiring to offer evidence before the Royal Commission on Canals, should seek the opportunity of doing so, individually.
[Coal Gas Companies] A published Statement of Coal used by Gas Companies was referred to by the Chairman, and the hope was expressed that to the fullest extent possible, the local Companies would give preference to Coal Pits whose production could reach this district by _water_, for which this Company would do all in their power to offer facilities.
[Mr C Critchley Stonehouse Wharf] The recent death of Mr Charles Critchley, the Company's tenant at Stonehouse Wharf, and Guarantor of Mr Zaccheus Whiting at Eastington Wharf, was mentioned.
[Gloucester Harbour Board] The Chairman read a correspondence between himself and the Clerk of the Gloucester Harbour Board. Their Requirement of £6..- annually, as qualification for a representative, this Company had each year demurred to, and he had explained his absence from a Meeting of the Board since March 31 ult as designed to avoid committing the Stroudwater Navigation, for the year now current. He left it to the Committee to decide as to the future. After learning the result of the Balance Sheet for the Halfyear, it was proposed by Mr Little and seconded by Mr Ball, and decided (Sir W H Marling not voting) that a contribution of £3..- for the current year to the Gloucester Harbour Board be proposed to them _without representation_ on the Board.
The Clerk was directed to convey the purport of this Resolution to the Clerk of the Harbour Board along with a cheque (£6) for the year ended March 31.
