Sir
The Comtee of the S N have instructed me to inform you that they think it necessary a petition should be entered in the House of Lords against the Severn Junction Railway Bill both by your Co & their own in order to get a clause inserted in the Railway Bill to make a Depot for Coal at Framilode in order that the same should be brought up to the Mills adjoining both their own & your Canal -- this has been deemed by the Comtee to be so essential & important to the future interests of the respective Canals that they hope your Co will cordially & zealously cooperate with them in getting up the petition -- they have every reason to presume that should our respective Cos make a strong demonstration of opposition this Railway Co will accede to such a proposition & they also think it would materially aid the carrying out of this suggestion if your Co would consent to your meeting Mr Bruce the Engineer & assist him in drawing up a plan where such a Depot might be made. You will oblige me by a reply at your earliest convenience as there is no time to be lost in forwarding the Petitions & settling terms upon which they could be withdrawn.
