[1940 June] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 19^th day of June 1940 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: W R Bloxam, Henry R Hooper, G A Evans, R J C Little.
There being only four Members of the Committee present there was no quorum but there being some matters requiring immediate attention it was decided to proceed with them subject to confirmation by the next Committee.
Bristol Road Bridge: Damage, Messrs Howards Ltd
Messrs Howards Ltd had been notified that the Navigation held them responsible. They had been informed of the estimated cost of putting right the damage as per M^r Hopson's estimate £39..10..0 for the repair of the Bridge and approximate estimate "25..0..0 for the removal of the debris from the Canal. Total £64..0..0. The Clerk stated that the work was in progress.
Wallbridge Office, Kitchen Grate
The Clerk reported that a grate had been obtained as directed at last Meeting of the Committee.
Gas Works Bridge, Replacement
It was reported that as requested by the Stroud Gas Light & Coke C^oyu Messrs Daniels estimate of £118 for an eight ton bridge had been accepted.
County Council - Bridges - National Security
A letter had been received from the County Surveyor and in reply thereto the Clerk had stated that as no doubt members of the County Staff would be regularly passing the bridges named they could more easily carry out the necessary inspection as our staff is very limited. No reply had been received.
Canal Bank at Parker's field, Whitminster
I response to Mr Parker's personal request a small leakage at the Western end of the field from the Canal had been attended to and some new planking laid on the Shallow Lock Bridge.
Next Meeting
Resolved that the next Meeting be held at the Canal Office at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 24^th July @ 3 o'clock pm and the General Half Yearly Meeting @ 3.30pm on same day.
