[1940 July] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 24^th July 1940 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: W R Bloxam, Henry R Hooper, G A Evans, R J C Little.
There being only four Members of the Committee present there was no quorum but there being some matters requiring immediate attention it was decided to proceed with them subject to confirmation by the next Committee.
Gloucester Corporation, Pipes crossing the Canal at Whitminster, Saul & Framilode
The Chairman read a letter from the Corporation sent to the Clerk with a draft Agreement for approval. The matter was left to the Company's Solicitors to settle.
Bristol Road Bridge Damage, Messrs Howards Ltd
It was reported that the wall had been re-built by Mr Hopson and was satisfactory. The debris had not been removed from the Canal. There was nothing more to report.
Gas House Bridge, Replacement
Messrs Daniels had informed the Clerk that they hoped to deliver the bridge shortly.
Dudbridge Wharf M^r Wiggall
A letter was read from M^r Wiggall asking the Committee to let him know the date of end of Messrs Jackson's lease. The Committee agreed.
County Council Canal Bridges, National Security
The Clerk reported that defence measures were being prepared at various bridges over the Canal.
Coal for the Office at Wallbridge
The Committee accepted Messrs Wood & Rowe's estimate for three tons of Coal delivered @ 51/3 per ton.
Sperry Gyroscope C^o Ltd: Towing path
It appeared that the Company had erected cross fencing on the towing path at the Roving Bridge and at the Ocean Bridge at Stonehouse. The Chairman stated that he had been in touch with them and was writing them respecting the use of the towing path against their works by traders using the Canal, and by the Company's staff and workmen.
Next Meeting
Resolved that the next Meeting of the Committee be held at Wallbridge Office on the 21^st August 1940 @ 3 o'clock pm.
