[1941 July] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 23^rd day of July 1941 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: W R Bloxam, Henry R Hooper, G A Evans, G W Morton Ball, R J C Little.
The Memoranda of the proceedings held on the 21^st June, 26^th July, 16^th August, 18^th October, 15^th November, 20^th December 1939, 24^th January, 21^st February, 20^th March, 17^th April, 15^th May, 19^th June, 24^th July, 21^st August, 18^th September, 16^th October, 20^th November, 18^th December 1940, 22^nd Jany, 19^th Feby, 19^th March, 16^th April, 21^st May, 18^th June 1941 were confirmed.
Bristol Road Bridge, Damage
The Chairman reported that the accounts had been prepared and that the Companies Solicitors had been in communication with the Insurance Companies.
Gashouse Bridge, Damage, Messrs Mowlem & Coy
There was nothing to report.
Stroud Rural District Council, Overflow pipe at Stonehouse.
There was nothing to report.
Fire Watching at Eastington, Shed
The Gloucester Rural District Council had replied to the Navigations enquiry that Eastington does not come within the area to which the Order had been applied. It would appear therefore that no approval of the scheme is required to be issued by the Rural Council. The Ministry had been informed accordingly. There was nothing further to report.
Hoffman Gloucester Ltd, Stonehouse
A letter and plan from the Company were discussed. IT was decided to inform Messrs Hoffman that the Navigation were prepared to meet them by reducing the proposed rent to £400 per annum. With regard to the plan the Committee were of opinion that the invert at the Canal should be raised by 21 inches. The Chairman undertook to settle a letter.
Framilode Stop Gate: Dam
The Committee were of opinion that before deciding an inspection was desirable, M^r Ball agreed to go down with the Chairman and Surveyor with power to act and to report later to the Committee.
Stroud Gas Company, Pipe to Canal
A letter from the Gas Company of the 19^h July was discussed, stating that the Company proposed to replace two four inch pipes by one eight inch pipe, the plan which they submitted shewed their intention to make use of a nine inch pipe. The Clerk was instructed to point out to the Gas Company that the capacity of one eight inch pipe is more than double that of two four inch pipes and as it was understood that they were now intending to make use of a nine inch pipe the capacity of this would be considerably more, that the Companies usual charge is £10 per annum per inch diameter of pipe, subject to written agreement.
Strachan & Company, Windows at Lodgemore
With reference to this matter the Chairman undertook to settle a further letter to be sent to Messrs Strachan & Company.
