[1944 August] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 16^th day of August 1944 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: W R Bloxam, Henry R Hooper, G A Evans.
There being only three Members of the Committee present there was no quorum but there being some matters requiring immediate attention it was decided to proceed with them subject to confirmation by the next Committee.
Eastington Wharf Gates, Damage, M^r C Beresford
The Chairman stated that a County Court Summons had been issued and Beresford had admitted the claim but his offer of payment was not considered adequate and the case would have to come before the Judge when the court sat again in October.
Leicester Lovell & C^o Ltd, re water pipe across the Canal next Ebley Mills, Agreement
The Committee assented to Messrs Lovell's request that the Agreement be made out the name of Messrs Marling & Evans Ltd, who had agreed to this, and the draft Agreement would be sent to them for approval.
Stroud and District Town Planning Committee, Canal
The Chairman read a letter from the Planning Committee and undertook to settle a reply.
Ebley Pound and Ebley Mill Pond
Messrs Penley and Millward's letter of 3^rd July last was discussed.
Ryeford Saw Mills Company, Water from the Canal at Ryeford
In accordance with Minute of last Meeting a letter had been written to the Saw Mills Company. There had been no reply.
Royal Air Force, re Junction Lock
The Royal Air Force had written to the Company to say htat the work will not be proceeded with and that all provisional arrangements were cancelled.
Culvert at Whitminster, Sharpness New Docks Co
The Clerk produced an account £25/5/3 for work done at this Culvert by the Dock Company in accordance with Minte of 26^th January 1944.
Eastington Lockhouse, Garden Wall, Damage, U S A
It was reported that the garden wall next the garden of the Lockhouse at Eastington had been damaged by a United States Army Lorry on the 15^th August. The Clerk was instructed to obtain particulars of the accident, and to get in touch with the United States Army Officials.
