Summary

Man managing vessel, a Worcester, called the ‘Defiance’ belonging to Messrs Parker & Foster injured lock gates at Dudbridge. One extensively damaged. Damages estimated at £15.
Mr Fisher to apply to Messrs Bowerman & Co. of Eynsham near Oxford to pay tonnage of £27 12s 2d.
Draft of release sent to Mr Snowden. Mr Fisher to write explaining reasons for clauses to which Mr Snowden objected.
Company to pay one half of expenses of the release to be signed by Mr Richard Martin for removing brick bridge at Whitminster and replacing it with a wooden bridge.

At a Committee Meeting of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Thursday the 27^th day of January 1835
Present: M^r Cosham, M^r P H Fisher, M^r Sam^l Fisher, M^r T C Croome, M^r Wood.
Examined the Books and Accounts of the Company.
M^r Hawker reported that on the 27^th Ult the man who had management of the Vessel (a Worser) called "The defiance" belonging to Mess^rs Barker & Foster did by wilful inattention injure the Lock Gate at Dudbridge so that one of the two Gates must be extensively repaired. That he has applied to Mess^rs Parker & C^o on the subject by letter of the 31^st ult.
M^r Hawker produced their reply to him dated 3^rd Inst, Ordered that Mess^rs Fisher do apply to & inform them that the damages have been Estimated at £15, and requiring them to send an undertaking to pay the sum (not exceeding that amount) as it shall appear, when the general repairs shall be made in May next, to have been incurred in the repairs. Otherwise the Company will proceed to repair instantly & charge them the actual & consequential damages.
Ordered that Mess^r Fisher do apply to Mess^rs Bowerman ^ Co of Ensham near Oxford to pay their Tonnage due £27:12:2.
Mess^rs Fisher produced the Draft of the Release which they had submitted to M^r Snowden for perusal, for discharging the Canal C^o from all liability to refence the Lodgemore Land from the Towing path, and shewed the Clause therein to which M^r Snowden has objected. -
Ordered that Mess^rs Fisher do write to M^r Snowden giving him the reasons for introducing the Clause, in the hope that he will waive his objection, preparatory to them ingrossing the deed.
Ordered that the Company do pay one _half_ of the Expences of the Release to be signed by M^r Richard Martin (he paying the other half) under the arrangement made with him for removing the brick bridge at Whitminster and substituting a Wooden Bridge instead of it.
Ordered that our Clerk do pay Georgy Workman's Bill for Glazing, etc, amounting to £1:7:0.
