Summary

Clay lying near Whitminster Poor House to be removed to Company’s land at Chippenham Platt.
Floor of enclosure, the pen, used for depositing timber at Chippenham Platt, to be levelled, covered with cinders and coating of gravel.
Well dug at Framilode by Williams and another to be walled and windlass and rope provided.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held on board the Companys Barge on Wednesday the 9^th day of August 1837
Present: M^r P H Fisher, M^r Cosham, M^r Sam^l Fisher, M^r Wyatt, M^r Jos Fisher, M^r Croome, M^r Holbrow.
The Committee proceeded in the Boat from Walbridge to Framilode for the purpose of inspecting the Canal.
The Crane at Dudbridge Wharf being out of repair, Ordered that some competent Engineer be employed to inspect the same; and to report whether it can be repaired and altered, so as to be adapted to the Wants of the Wharf, and to be competent to raise at least five Tons; or whether it is most desirable to have a new one; as also the price for which a new, or good second hand Iron crane, can be procured.
It being reported that the Navigation of the Canal is much impeded by the Mud which has accumulated in various places; & that the same ought to be removed:
Ordered that a plan for gradually removing the Mud throughout the whole line of the Canal be adopted; commencing with those places from which the mud is most requisite to be removed. ~~ That the same be done by a bag and spoon, without letting out the Water of the Canal; and that a bag and spoon with a proper Vessel for raising and removing the mud, be provided accordingly. ~~ That application be made for tenders for raising and removing the mud by the means aforesaid, & the same be commenced as soon as convenient, under the directions of the Committee as to the places to be mudded; & the annual Sum to be expended about the same.
Ordered that the Coping on the which bounds part of the Wharf at Stonehouse be taken off and reset - and the roofs of the Sheds belonging to the Dock Yard, at Chippenhams plat be repaired.
M^r P H Fisher produced the original Title or Ticket of the Share (N^o 91) in the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation, from which the Seal of the Company has been lost, and requested that the Seal of the Company be affixed to it again.
Ordered that the Cleark do affix the Seal of the Company to the Ticket N^0 91 accordingly.
M^r Fisher also applied on the part of James George of the City of Bristol, Edward Francis Colston of Shepton Mallet in the County of Somerst and Thomas Henry Hele Phipps of the parich of Butleigh in the same County, Esquires, and requested new Tickets of the Shares N^os 21, 26,39,174 and 184 in the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation, their property, and which Shares were claimed by them, as Executors and Residuary Legatees In trust of the Last Will and Testament of William Jenkins, late of Shepton Mallet in the said County of Somerset Esquire deceased; and allowed on the 23^rd day of June last.
Ordered that New Tickets, under the Seal of the Company signed by the Treasurer and Witnessed by the Clerk in the usual manner be made and in the name of them the said, James George, Edward Francis Colston and Thomas Henry Hele Phipps, or their Assignee or assignees Transferree or Transferrees and granted to them or him in lieu and stead of the said Tickets of the Shares N^os 21, 26,39, 174 and 184; or such of the said Tickets as shall be delivered up by them or him, the Clerk of the Company.
Ordered that Three thousand feet of Oak Slabs be procured from Ambrose …(?) of Gatcombe.
Ordered that such of the Clay lying near Whitminster Poor House as may be has and this Company is likely to want be removed to the Company's Land at Chippenhams platt, for use when wanted. ~~ And that the Floor of the inclosure called the pen, at Chippenhams plat, used for depositing Timber, be levelled and covered with cinders and a coating of Gravel laid thereon.
Ordered that the Well dug on the premises of the Company at Framilode rented by William … be walled & a Windless & Rope be provided for the same.
