Mr N S Marling about to succeed Messrs Charles Stephens & Co. at Stanley Mills. Wishes to occupy depot occupied by them at the Ryeford on same terms. Agreed.
Samuel Critchley of Eastington applied to have canal piled and deepened at Eastington Wharf for widening canal. Also piled opposite Organ’s house at Chippenham Platt. Agreed under supervision of Mr Mason.
Mr Hawker’s bonds executed.
Mr Mason deposited note of Mr James Gordon for £250.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Friday the 18^th day of December 1840
Present: M^r Cosham, M^r Croome, M^r Jos^h Fisher, M^r Wathen, M^r Holbrow, M^r Beard, M^r Wyatt, M^r Martin in the Chair.
The Books & Accounts of the Company were examined and confirmed.
A Letter from M^r N S Marling addressed to the Committee saying He is about to succeed Mess^rs Charles Stephens & Comp^y at Stanley Mills & that He wished to occupy the depo lately occupied by the said Charles Stephens & Comp^y at Ryeford belonging to the to the said Company upon the same terms as the said Charles Stephens & Comp^y occupied the same.
Ordered that the said M^r Marling be permitted to occupy the said Depo upon the same terms the said Charles Stephens & Company used and occupied the same.
Samuel Critchley of Eastington having applied to the Committee to have the Canal piled and depened at Eastington Wharf for the purpose of widening the Canal there, & also piled opposite Organs House at Chippenhams Plat. Ordered that the same be done under the superintendence of M^r Mason our Clerk.
Ordered that M^r Brisleys Bill amounting to £2..12..1 be paid. ~~ M^r Wathen our Solicitor reported that M^r Hawkers Bond has been executed by himself & his sureties.
M^r Mason at the meeting deposited a Note of M^r James Gordon to Him for two hundred & fifty pounds in pursuance of the order of the last Meeting, to be subject to the stipulations in the said Order mentioned, & the same was delivered to the Treasurer of the said Company.
