Summary

Special Meeting. Mr Wathen, after thanking Captain Glegram, has with Mr Mason looked at the areas of the proposed exchange. Counsel’s opinion to be obtained respecting right of Company to deviated line near Junction and right of Gloucester & Berkeley Canal Co. and this Company to make exchange.
Legal advice to be taken regarding supply of water to canal. Rights of Company at Ebley and Ebley Mills. Mr Croome to act with Mr Wathen.

At an adjourned Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Wednesday the fourth Day of August 1841
Present: M^r John Holbrow Chairman, John Stanton, Paul Hawkins Fisher, Robert Hughes, Samuel Fisher, Henry Wyatt, Joseph Fisher, Henry Beard, Tho C Croome, George Wathen.
[Exchange of Land at the Junction]
M^r Wathen reported that he had written to Captain Clegram thanking him for his Report, also with a proposition in Conformity with a Resolution of the Committee of the sixteenth day of July last proposing an Exchange of land that in consequence of Captain Clegram had appointed a Meeting at the Junction to inspect the lands and that he and M^r Mason met and pegged out the land.
Resolved that no further Steps be taken respecting the Exchange 'till Councels opinion be obtained respecting the Right of this Company to the deviated line near the Junction and to the right of the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal Company and this company to make such Exchange - and that a Case be prepared and submitted to this Committee for Consideration before laying the same before Councel for the opinion thereon.
It being thought expedient that legal advice should be taken regarding the supply of water to the Canal and the Rights of the Company respecting the same at Ebley and Ebley Mills, Resolved that M^r Croome be requested to act professionally with M^r Wathen in investigating the Companys Rights respecting the said water and the manner of using the same in order to prepare a Case incorporating all the circumstances regarding the Rights for the opinion of Councel thereon, and that the draft of such Case be laid before a Committee previous to Councels opinion.
