At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Thursday the 23^rd of Dec^r 1841
Present: M^r Cosham, M^r Wathen, M^r S FIsher, M^r Beard, M^r Jos^h Fisher, M^r P H Fisher, M^r Holbrow, M^r Stanton, M^r Hughes, M^r Croome, M^r Wyatt, M^r Eycott,
[Canal Co. Subscribe £20 for the distress^d of natives of Stroud]
Ordered that a Subscription of Twenty Pounds be paid for the Fund for the Relief of distressed Operatives in the Parish of Stroud to be applied in the first Instance in Payment of the Tonnage charged on Coals brought up the Navigation for Distribution by such Committee.
M^r George;s Clerk M^r Howells attended and consented to give up the Warehouse on the Wharf at Dudbridge as soon as he could possibly arrange to do so.
A letter form M^r Denyer the Clerk of the Thames and Severn Canal Compnay addressed to our Clerk M^r Hawker requesting the Loan of the Pike driving Monkey and Crab having been read,
Ordered that the same be lent accordingly;
The Case and Opinion respecting the feeding of the Canal by the Stream at Ebley and the Rights of the Company in regard thereto having been read and again taken into Consideration - It appears to the Committee that we have Ample Power to supply a complete and constant right of Feeding.
Ordered that the Solicitor do wait on Mess^rs T & S S Marling and inform them that this Company had such rights and wish to exercise them in a way least prejudicial to their Interest, and that they would listen to and consider any proposal which Mess^rs Marling may make, - but that unless a satisfactiory Arrangement be made with them this Company will feel it necessary to resort to their strict Rights in order to obtain a perfect Supply of Water.
The Case and Opinion respecting the Exchange proposed between the Company and the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal Company having bee read and considered,
Ordered that the Matter be further adjourned.
Ordered that the following Bills be paid:
