Members of Committee to attend on rotation before meeting to compare tickets with entries on tonnage, cash and other books.
Statement to be prepared by clerk of annual expenses of Navigation for last 4 years. Subcommittee, Mr John Stanton, Mr Holbrow, Mr Cosham, Mr Eycott, to investigate arrangements for reducing annual expenditure.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Friday the 21^st day of October 1842
Present: M^r Cosham, M^r Stanton, M^R J F Fisher, M^r Croome, M^r S Fisher, M^r P H Fisher, M^r Hughes, M^r Holbrow, M^r Martin, M^r Wathen, M^R Eycott, M^r Beard, M^r Wyatt.
Ordered that the following Bills be paid in the ususal manner. M^r WathenL £44,
George Perry's Bill (for Timber): 23..3..10
Henry Dangerfield's Bill: 6..7..5½
Resolved that the Members of the Committee will in future attend in rotation at least two Hours before the time fixed for the ordinary meetings of the Committee for the purpose of comparing the Tickets with the Entries in the Tonnage book, and other Books, and arranging the Routine Business of the Day and that a List of Rotation shall annually be made out by the Clerk as soon as may be after the Election of the Committee at the annual Meeting in April so that two Members may be summoned to attend each meeting and an Intimation thereof shall also be sent round by the Clerk in the Circulars summoning the meeting. ~~~ In Case either of the Committee shall be unable to attend in his rotation he shall procure the attendance of some other Member of the Committee to supply his Place.
Ordered that a Statement be prepared by the Clerk and be submitted to the following Subcommittee and to the next general half yearly meeting of the annual Expences of the Navigation for the last four years stating the various heads of the Expenditure and the Details and amounts of each of the heads and that the following persons be a Subcommittee to investigate that Statement and consider whether any and what arrangements can be made for reducing the annual Expenditure of the Navigation both as to management and otherwise and to report (if they shall be able to do so) the result of their Consideration to the next Half Yearly meeting and that M^r Mason do attend the Subcommittee to give the requisite Information & (?Ex...).
