John George’s requested empty vessels to be allowed to go up Navigation to Chalford. Price of tonnage to return loaded with stone for use of Severn Improvement Company to enable him to compete with offer of supplying stone from Forest. Granted provided loads of stone pay usual tonnage if Thames & Severn Canal Co do the same.
Appointment of assistant clerk spoken of.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on friday the 16th day of June 1843

M^r Cosham, M^r Holbrow, M^r Jo^h Fisher, M^r S^l Fisher, M^r Beard in the Chair, M^r Eycott, M^r P H Fisher, M^r Geo Wathen, M^r Hughes, M^r Stanton, M^r Martin, M^r Croome.
Application havign been made by M^r John George to allow empty Vessels to go up our Navigation to Chalford free of Tonnage for the purpose of returning loaded with Stone for the use of the Severn Improvement Company if the Contract for supplying the requisite Stone should be obtained by M^r George (the Object of the application being to enable him to compete with offers of supplying Stone from the Forest)
Ordered that (in case the Thames & Severn Canal Company shall acquiesce in a similar application to their Canal) M^r George's application be granted provided the empty Vessels referred to shall return loaded with Stone down the Navigation for the use of the Severn Improvement Company whereon the usual Tonnage shall be paid.
The Resolution of the general Meeting held in Oct last relative to the appointment of an assistant Clerk was spoken of and Ordered to be take into Consideration at the next meeting of the Committee.
