Summary

Proposals made during annual inspection adopted.
Lodgemore Bridge, Gas Works Bridge, sea wall at Framilode, bank of brook behind cottages to be repaired. Division of garden ground at Framilode confirmed.
Solicitor of Bristol Extension Railway repudiated agreement made by Mr Buckland as to future repairs of Railway Bridge over Navigation near the Ocean. Our solicitor to call on him to carry out agreement.
Mr Wilson, Clerk of Thames & Severn Canal Co, suggested trade on coals to Oxford and vicinity in case drawback made on tonnage of various canals. Offer to reduce their rate to 1s 6d per ton if our tonnage reduced to 6d per ton on all coals through their navigation to or below Eynsham on River Thames. Agreed.
Also agreed with Mr Wilson on a drawback of 6d per ton on timber.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on friday the 18th day of August 1843
Present: [In time 2/6 & 2/6] M^r P H Fisher, M^r W^m Cosham, M^r John Holbrow, M^r Jos F Fisher, M^r Henry Wyatt in the Chair, M^r Henry Eycott, M^r Richard Stanton, M^r G H A Beard, M^r R^d Hughes, M^r Geo Wathen, M^r Jno Stanton, M^r T C Croome.
Ordered That the Resolutions of the Committee in the Barge the 3rd Inst as to the drawback to Ja^s Smith on Iron and Timber be confirmed.
Ordered That the recommendation of the same Committee as to the estimation of the Weight of Bricks, be adopted.
Ordered that the mode of estimating the rate of tonnage per the Mile on actual distance as recommended by the same Committee be adopted and proper Steps taken to estimate and mark the respective distance And the Order for cleansing the Bristol Road Level and piling the Wharf there be also confirmed.
Ordered that Lodgemore Bridge, the Gas Work Bridge, the Sea Wall at Framilode and the Bank of the brook behind the Cottages there be repaired when convenient.
Ordered that the division of the Garden Ground at Framilode between the 2 Cottages be confirmed.

The Solicitor of the Bristol Extension Railway having repudiated the Agreement entered into by M^r Buckland on their part as to the future Repairs, etc, of the Railway Bridge made over this Navigation near the Ocean:
Ordered that our Solicitor do call on M^r Buckland to carry out the Agreement made by him in that respect.
M^r Wilson, the Clerk of the Thames and Severn Canal Company having attended this meeting and suggested that a trade in Coals may be obtained to Oxford and its Vicinity, in case Drawbacks were made on the Tonnage of the various Canals; and having offered to make such a Drawback on the tonnage of the Thames & Severn Canal Company as should reduce _their_ rate of tonnage to 1^s/6^d per Ton in case this Navigation would allow such Drawback as would reduce _our_ tonnage to sixpence per Ton on all boats carried thro' _this_ Navigation to or below Ensham on the River Thames:
Ordered that a Drawback of sixpence be allowed on the tonnage of all Coals passing on this Navigation to or below Ensham on the River Thame accordingly; provided the Thames and Severn Canal Company reduce their Tonnage by Drawbacks to 1^s/6^d per Ton.
M^r Wilson also proposed in order to create a Trade in Timber, that in addition to a Drawback to be allowed by the Thames and Severn Canal Company, this Navigation should make a Drawback of sixpence per Ton on Timber:
Ordered that such Drawback be made accordingly.
Ordered that a new Return be made to the Income Tax of this Navigation with reference to the deduction therefrom of the Property on which Property Tax is chargeable; the former Return having been made in error in that respect.
Ordered that a Committee Meeting be held on friday next at One o'Clock, to take into consideration the application made for the Office of Clerk to this Company, M^r Wathen having engaged to arrange the papers in the mean time.
