At a General Half Yearly Meeting of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation, held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on friday the 27th day of October 1843
M^r Hooker in the Chair.
The Minutes of the last General Half yearly meeting were read and confirmed.
The Minutes of a Special General meeting of the Proprietors held on the 8^th Sep^t last were read and confirmed.
Resolved that M^r Charles Hawker who had been appointed our Clerk do reside in the House at Walbridge free of rent but paying all the Rates & Taxed as long as he is Clerk.
[Repairs of Organs Hos suspended] Resolved that the Order for the Repair of the House called Organs House be suspended for the present.
Ordered that M^r Mason be allowed a Sum of Thirty Pounds for a House in addition to his present Salary of One Hundred and Twenty Pounds per annum until a House be provided for him and that the Allowance of Ten pounds per annum heretofore made to him be discontinued.
The several Books and Accounts of the Company were produced as directed by Act of Parliament and were examined and confirmed.
It appears that the Sum of £2729.14 -- has been received for Tonnage etc from the 21 Day of March to the 14 Day of October 1843 a part of which has been applied towards the Payment of Wages Disbursements, etc, and that there remains in the Treasurers Hands after paying the last Dividend the SUm of £1804.15.9.
Ordered that a Dividend of Nine pounds be paid by the Treasurer on each Share on the first Day of Nov^r next and that our Clerk do transmit the usual Circular Letter to the Proprietors to inform them thereof.
Ordered that the Resolution of the Committee on the 18 Aug^t last for making a further Drawback of 2^d per Ton on Coals carried to Oxford be confirmed.
