At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Monday the 20th day of January 1845
Present: M^R Will^m Fryer, G H A Beard, Dan Watts, RIch^d Martin, Fred Eycott Chairman, Jn^o Stanton, Geo Wathen, Jn^o Gurney, W^m J Wood, Jn^o Holbrow.
Wlii^m Hen^y Piggot fo N^o 32 Corn Street in the City of Bristol Taster attended and made out the claim of himself and Jn^o Edgecombe of Bristol, Gentlemand, to Two Shares, N^os 61 & 88 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation standing in the name of Jn^o Spencer of N^o 14 Montagues Stread in the City of Bristol deceased. The said Will^m Hen^y Piggot and Jn^o Edgecombe being the Executors of the said Jn^o Spencer. And the said Will^m Hen^y Piggot produced the Probate of the Will of the said Jn^o Spencer bearing date the 19th day of September 1844 granted out of and under the Seal of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury.
Ordered that such claim be admitted.
Report made that the Alteration at Dudbridge Wharf was being proceded with.
M^r Fryer and M^r Gurney promised to select the Bye Laws prior to the next Meeting.
M^r Sherwood reported that he had not yet seen the Gates at the Junction closed so as to ascertain how they worked.
M^r Hawker reported that M^r Cooker had accepted the Office of Auditor and had entered on his duties.
M^r Gurney reported that this Company had been duly registered under the recent Act of Parliament.
Thomas Clark of Stonehouse Wharf attended regarding the Notice that had been given him to quit his house at Midsummer next.
Ordered that such Notice should be persisted with.
Ordered that a regular Notice be given to Will^m Close to remove his Vessel forthwith or proceedings will be commenced against him.
A Letter from M^r Will^m Dunsford of the Wilts and Berks Canal was read complaining of the detention of a certain Boat at Framilode for an arrear incurred in 1842.
Ordered that the money levied by Burbidge be returned.
Two Letters being read concerning the Walk Bridge from M^r Cambridge and Capt Clegram as to its repair,
Ordered that the question be referred to our Solicitor to report at the next Meeting.
Ordered that Advertisements as to the letting of Adam's house at Wallbridge be inserted in the County papers twice in each paper. Applications to be put in on or before the 17h day of February next.
Ordered that Frederick Nurse be put on the same terms as to Wharfage as his brother James, conditionally on his not objecting to the alteration now being made on the Wharf.
Ordered that M^r Sherwood be directed to purchase sufficient Deal Timber for Two pair of Lock Gates and Two Oak Sills for the Double Locks.
