Summary

Chairman had interview with Mr Smart re cost of bringing coal from Staffordshire to Chalford. Mr Smart agreed to have another cargo on basis of last reduced rates. Rates over Stroudwater Canal reduced to 100% above pre-war rates as and from time when lower salaries and wages come into operation. Severn Commission toll rates reduced to 120% above pre-war rates.
Correspondence with Mr T Halling of Tewkesbury re hire of a spoon dredger.
Messrs E T Ward & Son Ltd would like to arrange carriage by water of coal to Stroud Brewery Co but would need for drastic further lowering of rates. Mr E P Little to go into matter with Brewery Co.

[1922 Feby] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 15^th day of February 1922 @ 3.20 o'clock pm
Present: Edward P Little, Jack Margetson, W^m Davies, R J C Little, S S Marling, W R Bloxam, F A Little, Philip Jas Evans.
The question of reduction of Canal Tolls was discussed. The Chairman reporting an interview he had with Mr Smart when the figures were gone into of the cost of bringing coal from Staffordshire to Chalford. Mr Smart agreed to have another cargo on the basis of the last reduced rates and would lay the figures before the Chairman afterwards.
It was decided to further reduce the rates over the Stroudwater Canal to 100% above pre war rates as and from the time when lower Salaries and wages should come into operation.
The Severn Commission had now reduced their tolls to 120% above pre-war rates.
Correspondence had taken place with Mr T Habling of Tewkesbury as to the hire of a "Spoon Dredger" but the subject was adjourned till next meeting of Committee and to institute further enquiries in the meantime,
Messrs E T Ward & Son Ltd were desirous of securing a carriage by water of coal to the Stroud Brewery C^o and had given certain figures to show the need for a drastic further lowering of rates. Mr E P Little consented to go into the matter with the Brewery Company and report at next Committee.
The Tonnage amounted to £188..9..0 as compared with £237..7..9 to same date in 1921 and £142..2..6 in 1914.
Bank balance was £457..6..5 against £450..5..5 last year and £453..7..11 in 1914.
