Summary

Convenient for Messrs Hooper & Sons Ltd if work on swing bridge by Bond’s Mill was commenced Monday 13 November and completed by end of month. Messrs H J H King & Co. undertook to carry out work.

Messrs Workman’s tender for elm at 3s 6d per ft cube delivered free to Dudbridge Wharf and Ryeford Saw Mills Co. for English oak at 6s 6d per ft cube delivered into boat at Ryeford.
Clerk to approach County Council with view to purchasing suitable timber lying on derelict portion of their canal.
Deck planking of Lodgemore swing renewed. Cost about £25.
Repairs arranged by subcommittee of Millowners carried out. £5 subscription towards cost.
Edward Sydney Gedge and Edward Palling Little claimed shares nos.20,102,126, will of Miss Catherine Pruen Clutterbuck.

[1922 Sept] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 20^th day of September 1922 @ 3.20 o'clock pm
Present: Jack Margetson, Philip Jas Evans, F A Little, Gx Evans.
Swing Bridge at Bond's Mill: Messrs Hooper & Sons Ltd had stated that it would be convenient to them if the work were commenced at the bridge on Monday the 13^th November next, and completed by the end of that month. Messrs H J H King & C6o Ltd had been advised and undertook to carry out the work as desired.
The £7..5..8 from the Chancery Lane Safe Deposit and Offices C^o Ltd had been expended in part payment of the cost of altering the Stable on the Wharf at Stonehouse.
The last Chairman had gone into the matter of the Railway Rates and Charges from the Forest of Dean to Sharpness and Stroud respectively, and had obtained information from various Colliery Owners, he thought there was no case to put before the Canal Association, at present.
The New pair of Middle Gates of the Double Lock had been fixed and the cills & Paddles repaired. The work had cost in extra wages about £35..-.
The Bottom Gates at the Pike Lock, Eastington, are in a bad condition and should be renewed. Certain repairs had recently been carried out, and it was decided a new pair of gates should be put in hand ready for fixing. The cost of Timber would amount to about £140..-.
Bottom Gates, Dudbridge: The Balance Pole on the outside Gate of the bottom Lock at Dudbridge is useless, and should be renewed, cost about "18..-, also Balance Pole is required on the outside gate of the top lock at Dudbridge, but in this instance (?) proposed to use one of the old Balance Poles from the Middle Gates recently taken out at the Double Locks.
Estimates for the timber were put in from The Wood Workers Company, Chalford, Messrs Workman Limited, Woodchester, and the Ryeford Saw Mills Company. After discussion, it was decided to accept Messrs Workman's tender for Elm at 3.6 per ft cube delivered free to Dudbridge Wharf, and The Ryeford Saw Mills Cos tender for English Oak at 6/6 per ft cube delivered into boat at Ryeford. It was decided to let the order for the Balance Poles to stand over for a while, and in the meantime the Clerk to approach the County Council with a view to purchasing from them, any suitable timber now lying on the disused portion of their Canal.
The Deck Planking of the Lodgemore Swing Bridge had been renewed, at a cost of about £25..-.
Letter from Mr R Lewis Gust stating that repairs arranged by the Sub-Committee of the Millowners had been duly carried out and asking for the subscription of £5..- promised by the Company towards the cost of this work (see minute November 1921). A cheque was drawn accordingly.
Robert Johnston Caruthers-Little of Stroud in the County of Gloucester, Solicitor, Attended under a written authority from Edward Sydney Gedge of 2 Marine Gardens Eastbourne, Sussex, Esquire and Edward Palling Little of Whitemoor, Amberley near Stroud in the County of Gloucester, Esquire, Executors of Will of Miss Catherine Pruen Clutterbuck late of St Marys Chalford in the said County of Gloucester, Spinster, who died on the 8^th day of December 1921 at St Marys, Chalford aforesaid and made out their claim to three shares numbered respectively 20, 106 and 126 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation and now standing in the name of the said Catherine Pruen Clutterbuck aforesaid in the Books of the said Company by producing the tickets or titles to the said three shares and the Probate of the Will and two Codicils of the said Miss Catherine Pruen Clutterbuck the said Will bearing date the 8^th March 1911 and he said Codicils attached thereto bearing date the 30^th May 1913 and the 10^th September 1913 and proved by the said Executors in the Principal Registry of His Majestys High Court of Justice on the 24^th day of May 1922 and the claim was admitted accordingly and new tickets or titles ordered to be made out on the tickets or title of the said Miss Catherine Pruen Clutterbuck being delivered up.
The Tonnage for the period July 1^st to September 19^th was £268..15..9 comparing with £302..15..7 last year and £205..0..5 in 1914.
Bank balance was £361..13..10 against £165..18..2 last year and £402..11..7 in 1914.
