[1924 May] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 21^st day of May 1924 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: Jack Margetson, Henry R Hooper, W R Bloxam, R J C Little, F A Little, Gd Evans.
[M^r Smith Tonnage A/c Wharfage] _Mr Smith, Wharfage A/c_
In response to a letter in the terms of the minute of last Meeting, M^r Smith had paid the account for Wharfage amounting to £11..6..11.
[C C Wall at Stonehouse] _Gloucestershire County Council, Wall & fence at Stonehouse_
Wall at Stonehouse had been lowered and spiked railings had been fixed thereon as agreed.
[Cottage at Dudbridge] _Cottage at Dudbridge_
Walter Thomas Mills the new tenant had signed the Companys tenancy agreement and had taken over the premises.
[West Glos Power Co] _West Gloucestershire Power C^o_
The Chairman stated that in accordance with minute of last Meeting he had with Messrs Hooper, Bloxam and R J C Little met Mr Hill the Assistant Engineer of the Power C^p. They had inspected the whole of the proposed cable rout from Ryeford to Dudbridge Wharf.
A letter was read by the Chairman, in which Mr Hill submitted detailed application both for the laying of cables and the lease of certain land at Dudbridge subject to confirmation by his Board.
After discussing the clauses seriation the Committee decided to reply as follows:-
_Plan N^r 1_ Underground Cables - while desirious of putting no obstacle in the way of an undertaking that could only be to the benefit of the Public the fact tat the proposals could not held causing some considerable disturbance to the Canal traffic must not be overlooked.
Clause N^r 3 Rental. In view of the rental already obtained in circumstances of a similar nature, the proposal of one shilling for 100 yards could not be entertained. The Committee would be prepared to accept an inclusive rent per annum of £12..- subject to an agreement satisfactory to the Companys Solicitors.
Remaining Clauses. No vital exception was take to the remaining claused contained in the lettter, although the Committee would require further light on one or two points.
_Plan N^o 2_ Lease of land at Dudbridge
The Committee agreed to let a part of the Wharf as Plan N^o 2 at a yearly rental of £40..- subject to a sketch of the intended building being submitted for approval and to the insertion in the lease of convenants usual when Canal property is concerned it must also be understood that the Power C^o would pay all the legal and other expenses incurred by this Company.
A letter for the Clerk to send to M^r Hill, the Assistant Engineer of the Power Company, setting out these terms to be settled by the Companys Solicitors.
[John Richings] Proceedings had been taken against John Richings for the recovery of the rent £6..-. It was stated that he had paid £3..- to the Solicitors on account.
It was reported that the New Gates for Blunder Lock would soon be ready for fixing.
[Inspection of Canal] _Inspection of Canal_ - Ocean to Stroud
Messrs H R Hooper, F A Little and G A Evans undertook to inspect this section of the Canal on May 28^th and the Chairman, Messrs R J Caruthers-Little, W R Bloxam and G A Evans the section from Framilode to Ocean Bridge on June 25^th.
[Pike Bridge] _Pike Bridge at Eastington_
A plan was put in by the County Surveyor in respect of the alteration of the existing brick parapet wass on the East side of the bridge to correspond with the proposed wall on the opposite side.
The Committee agreed to the proposal providing the work be done at no expense to this Company.
[Bridge Notices] _Bridge Notices_
It was reported that the notice at the bridges had been fixed, and that Mr Hooper had provided steam piping for the posts. The Chairman thanked M^r Hooper for the kind assistance he had given to the Committee.
[Wharf House at Dudbridge] _Wharf House at Dudbridge_
Mr S Hopson's estimate of £6..5..0 for papering and painting at Wharf House, Dudbridge was accepted.
[Property at Framilode] _Property at Framilode_
The Clerk was directed to have the necessary repairs done to the roof of the cottage occupied by M^r Wathan which was reported to be leaky.
[Tonnate] _Tonnage_
The tonnage for the period 1^st January to 20^th May 1924 was £404..5..8 comparing with £238..19..8 (stoppage) last year and £429..0..11. in 1914.

The tonnage for the month of April 1924 was £103..4..10 comparing with £69..12..2 (stoppage) last year and £100..14..6 in 1914.

The balance at the Bank was £128..2..8 against £87..7..7 last year and £264..18..11 in 1914.
