Summary

Thames & Severn Canal Abandonment. Contributions to Thames & Severn Canal Abandonment tp date £450 6s, 3% interest. Mr Gardom’s committee asked for payment on account of £770 towards cost of lower portion of Thames & Severn Canal. £400 to be sent to Gloucestershire County Council.
Cost of materials for piling at Eastington Wharf £16. Beard, tenant, to contribute. Solicitor to press Whiting for amounts claimed.

Mr Banks request that his mother should continue tenancy of Dock house at Eastington agreed.
Clerk to obtain estimates from Messrs Daniels Ltd for iron bridges to sustain loads of 5 tons and 15 tons to replace Whitminster Swing Bridge.
Lodgemore Bridge not in sound condition. Nose piece dropped off. Beams decayed, being refixed. Clerk to ask Mr Daniels to amend estimate 9 October 1924 for iron bridge.

[1926 Feby] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 17^th day of February 1926 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: Henry H Hooper, J R Morton Ball, F A White, W R Bloxam, R J C Little.
[205 210 re collection 215 220] Thames & Severn Canal Abandonment
It was reported that the contributions received to date, together with bank interest, amounted to £450..6..0.
The bank has agreed to allow interest at the rate of 3% pa n this account.
A letter from Mr Gardom was read stating that his Committee thought that some payment ought to be made on account of the £770 which was promised by the Company towards the cost of the lower portion of the Thames and Severn Canal and he should be glad if the Company would send a Cheque on account as early as possible.
It was Resolved that subject to Chairmans approval £400..- of the amount collected should be sent to the Gloucestershire County Council before the next Meeting of the Committee.
Ship Inn Premises
It was decided that the balance of proceeds of sale £487..9..6 should remain on Deposit at Lloyds Bank Ltd Stroud for the time being.
The bank had agreed to allow 3% pa interest on this account.
Canal Wharf at Eastington
It was reported that the materials for the necessary piling, etc, at this Wharf would cost about £16.
The Clerk was instructed to see Beard, the tenant, about contributing towards this.
It was agreed that the materials be obtained, the work to be undertaken in about May or June next.
Mr Whiting rent a/c, etc
Mr Bloxam reported that he had written Whiting with no result.
The Companys Solicitors were instructed to press Whiting for the amounts claimed.
Stonehouse Swing Bridge
The matter was postponed awaiting communication from Messrs Vowles & Son Ltd, the plans & estimates still being in their hands.
Thames and Severn Canal Trust Act 1895
It was Resolved to pay the £75..- contribution re Thames & Severn Canal.
Office at Wallbridge
The Chimney had been repaired, cost £16..10..0.
Trespass at Wallbridge Wharf, M^r Lambert
The Companys Solicitors were instructed to give M^r Lambert notice to terminate the trespass on the 24^th June next.
Tenancy Dock-house at Eastington
The tenant Mr Banks having left the premises, his request that his mother should continue in occupation was agreed to.
Mr Banks would be responsible for the rent as heretofore.
Whitminster Bridge (Swing Bridge)
The Clerk was instructed to see Messrs Daniels Ltd and obtain from them estimates for an iron bridge to sustain a load of five tons, and for an iron bridge to sustain a load of fifteen tons.
This bridge should be replaced without delay as it is not in a sound condition.
Lodgemore Bridge
It was reported that the nose piece of this bridge had dropped off owing to the decayed condition of the beams. It was now being refixed as well as could be in the circumstances.
The Clerk was requested to see Messrs Daniels Ltd, and ask them whether they could amend their estimate of the 9^th October 1924 for an iron bridge at this place.
Canal Meetings
A letter from Mr S S Marling was read
The Clerk was instructed to avoid, if possible, calling a Meeting of the Committee on the date of the Annual Meeting of the Stroud Hospital.
Ministry of Transport
The Clerk was directed to request Messrs Dudbridge & Sons, the Companys Auditor's, to supply a copy of the Companys Accounts to the Ministry of Transport as demanded.
Mrs Penn
The Clerk was instructed to write to Mrs Penn to inform her that he would be calling for the quarters rent due from her last 25^th December amounting to £8..2..6.
