Summary

Mr Beard, tenant, refused to contribute towards piling of canal bank at Eastington Wharf. Summons issued against Whiting.
Mr Lambert to pay 2s 6d p.a. from 24 June 1926 for trespass at Wallbridge.
Rural District Council of Wheatenhurst might erect a bridge more suitable for modern traffic at Whitminster. Company’s intended replacement of present bridge. Company’s liability to maintain bridge limited to standard necessary on original construction.
Chairman and Mr Bloxam had interview with Mr A V Bellamy, secretary of National Council for Inland Waterways. Invitation of membership accepted, £2 2s annual subscription.
West Gloucestershire Power Co request to put cable over canal at Whitminster, 5s pa for each crossing and 1s pa rent for each pole on Canal property granted.
Mr Evans reported that canal banks at Ryeford and Stonehouse needed repair. Stonehouse Swing Bridge.

[1926 March] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 17^th day of March 1926 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: Jack Margetson, Henry R Hooper, W R Bloxam, R J C Little, S S Marling, J R Morton Ball, Gd Evans.
Thames and Severn Canal: Abandonment
It was reported that the sum of £472..6..0, including bank interest, was standing to the credit of the contribution a/c, respecting the Thames and Severn Canal. Of this sum £400..- had been sent to the Gloucestershire County Council, leaving a balance in the hands of the Company of £72..6..0.
The outstanding contributions amounting to £326 as follows: £
Stroudwater Navigation C^o: 150
Sharpness Docks C^o: 150
G Waller & Sons: 10
J Cousins: 1
[Total] 326
It was decided that the payment of the Companys contribution be postponed.
Eastington Wharf
M^r Beard (the tenant) had declined to contribute anything towards the piling of the Canal bank at this Wharf.
M^r Whiting
It was reported that a County Court summons had been issued against Whiting.
Trespass at Wallbridge: Mr Lambert
The Committee authorised the accommodation at 2/6 a year rent to commence 24^th June 1926.
Lodgemore Stonehouse and Whitminster Swing Bridges
Messrs Daniels estimates were discussed and postponed. Mr Ball kindly undertook to furnish the name of a firm of bridge builders to the Clerk, and the latter was instructed to write for estimates.
With regard to the bridge at Whitminster it occurred to the Committee that the Rural District Council of Wheatenhurst might contemplate the desirability of erecting a bridge more suitable for modern traffic.
The Clerk was instructed to inform it of the Companys intended replacement of the present bridge, and to point out that the liability of the Company to maintain the bridge was limited to the standard necessary at the time of original construction.
The Chairman undertook to draft a letter for the Clerk to write to the Council.
Premises at Stonehouse: Mrs Penn
It was reported that Mrs Penn had paid the rent to 25^th December last.
National Council of Inland Waterways
The Chairman reported an interview with Mr A V Bellamy, at which Mr Bloxam was present, Secretary of the National Council when it was decided to accept the Councils invitation of membership, if an annual subscription of £2..2..0 met the case.
West Gloucestershire Power C^o
It was decided to grant the request of the Power Company to put a cable over the Canal at Whitminster @ 5/- per annum rent for each crossing over the Canal and 1/- per annum rent for each pole placed on the property of the Canal.
This arrangement to be subject to an agreement to be prepared by the Solicitors of the Company costs to be met by the Power C^o.
Canal Banks - Ryeford & Stonehouse
Mr Evans reported that the canal banks from Ryeford to Stonehouse needed some repairs.
The Clerk was instructed to have the necessary work don at first opportunity.
Stonehouse Swing Bridge: Messrs Vowles & Sons
The Clerk reported that Messrs Vowles & Sons had been informed of the date of the Meeting but no reply had been received.
The plans & estimates were still in their hands.
