Dudbridge Wharf. The Chairman said he had again been approached by the Education Committee to lease part of Dudbridge Wharf for a cooking depot and a plan was discussed. Agreed to let land coloured pink and suggested a rent of £60pa.
Cottage at Ryeford. A letter had been sent to the widow of the late tenant.

Minute Book No 11. The Clerk had handed this to the Company's Solicitors for production in the Company's action against Gloucestershire County Council.
Dudbridge Wharf. Following correspondence, the Committee's offer to let to the Education Committee at £60pa should stand.
Westfield Bridge. Following wanton damage, the repair had been carried out by Mr Hopson.
Chedworth Parish Council. Read a letter from them re Shares 59 & 60. The Chairman undertook to settle a reply.
Walk Bridge Whitminster. Some new planking was required, other deck planking needed refixing and the stone permanent work at the nose needed repair. This iron bridge was erected by Messrs Daniels in 1926. Repairs are being carried out by Mr Hopson.
Lock House at Framilode. Messrs Bradley's estimate of £10.6.6 for extension of water supply was accepted.
Bristol Road Wharfhouse. Mr Bradley to carry out repairs of the windows.
Eastington Wharf. The County Surveyor had suggested altering the access position. Agreed.
Canal Bank at Newtown. The County Surveyor had suggested excavation on the main road at Newtown. Clerk to meet the Surveyor on the spot.
Dudbridge Wharf. Messrs Redler had offered to pay £100 for their cornered piece next the entrance to the wharf. Accepted.
Dudbridge Wharf. Agreed to accept rent of £45 from the Education Committee for the wharf less the three cornered piece sold to Messrs Redler.
Walk Bridge. Repairs had been carried out.
Eastington Wharf. The work proposed by the County Council was in progress.
Canal Bank at Newtown. The County Council had given assurance that their work would not harm the Company's overflow weir and culvert.
Mr Household. Agreed he could look at the earlier minute books of the Company.
South Western Gas Board. Proposal to lay an 8 inch gas main along the towpath from Lodgemore to Wallbridge. Agreed in principle. Clerk to meet applicant.

Dudbridge Wharf. Agreed to accept £45pa rent for the wharfage room required by the Education Committee.
Wall next garden of wharfhouse, Bath Road, Wallbridge. Wanton damage to this wall had been repaired by Mr Hopson.
Swing Bridges. Agreed to purchase some deck planking to be put into stock.
Midlands Electricity Board. The Board wanted to erect a live overhead wire across the canal near Walk Bridge. No objection.

Marling & Evans Ltd. Proposal to erect a 6in water main across the canal at Ebley. Prepared to grant a wayleave at an annual rent that would depend on the route and method selected.
Dudbridge Wharf New Sewer. Agreed Mr Wiggall could occupy Stonehouse Wharf @ £1 a week during the laying of a new sewer at Dudbridge.
South Western Gas Board. Agreed an 8 inch gas main could pass through Wallbridge Wharf subject to the Company's satisfaction.
Dudbridge Wharf. Mr Wiggall was interested in purchasing the unoccupied remainder of the wharf at Dudbridge and to include the warehouse and wharf he now occupies as tenant. Wiggall to be asked to make an offer.
T&S Canal Overflow at First Lock. Letter to be written to Messrs Little & Bloxam's London agents expressing a grave view as to the absence of any replies to letters and asking for definite information.
Dudbridge Wharf Sale. Towing Path private property of Navigation. Public not entitled to use it and cannot complain of locked gate.
Bristol Road Wharf. Domestic Water Supply. Sample examined by Mr H H North, Chemist of Stroud. Water good and pure.
Stroud and District Sewerage Joint Committee. Intention to lay pipe sewer across canal near Gas Works Stroud. Clerk to ask for reply to letter 26 July.
Stonehouse Wharf. Call from Messrs Randall Payne on behalf of Wheatley Rogers & Smith Ltd builders. Company prepared to sell Wharf to them, less ten feet bordering canal. Offer invited.

Trespass on Towing Path at back of Long Row at Framilode, Mrs Hayes, window, Mr Collier deposit of rubbish. Report by Lockkeeper Pockett. Window overlooks private towing path of canal. Permission should have been obtained. Mr Collier to remove any rubbish he deposited on Navigation’s property and to discontinue practice. No right of entry on private towing path for any purpose.

Suitable compensation for any damage done to Company’s premises. Qualified valuer should be engaged to inspect site and report to Committee.

Gloucestershire Association of Boys Clubs Cheltenham. Letter from Secretary. Agreed to allow club to use waters of Navigation for canoeing subject to certain conditions.

Property of Canal Company who were liable for its upkeep. Application for permission to widen bridge likely. Need to accommodate present day farm traffic. Liability would then fall on owner of adjoining land. Company decided to wait for further information.

Newtown Lock. Baffle at Top gates. Mr Flowers had difficulty obtaining steel and would submit a firm price later.
Wallbridge Warehouse, Sanitary Accommodation, Mr Hopson tenant. No letter received from him yet.
Dudbridge Lock cottages, Mr Gibbons. Offer of £300 for two cottages. One occupied by Lockkeeper Wiggall could not be sold. Clerk to inform Mr Gibbons.
Long Row at Framilode, Mr Bourne. Mr Bourne had put a pipe from a stove through the wall of his house next the Towing Path in the “Long Row” at Framilode. Informed that towing path is private property of Company. Permission should have been obtained. No right of entry on to private towing path of company for any purpose. No reply.

Ministry of Transport, London Trunk Roads Act 1946. Bristol Road Bridge. Messrs Pyrah & Paul had called at Office. Inspection of bridge. Undertaking of Ministry since passing of Trunk Roads Act 1946. Provided general conditions to be observed by owners of bridges taken over by Act. They would write to the Company.
Dudbridge Lock Cottage. Sale Mr H S Gibbons. Mr Rowell to be instructed to negotiate.
Framilode Long Row. Trespass, Stove Pipe. Mr Bourne. No reply to Company’s letters. Clerk to write to him, requiring him to remove pipe by 31 May.
Hilly Orchard Bridge – Repair. Necessary repairs carried out by Mr Hopson. Surveyor, Stroud District Council, informed.
Saul Bridge, County Council. Pieces of timber, running lengthways on deck planking of bridge fixed against uprights holding the guard railing. Effect of reducing width of carriage way to a dangerous extent. Carried out without consent of knowledge of Navigation. County Council must be held responsible for any accident.
Stonehouse Wharf. Wharfage Room, Mr Nash desired to rent part of wharf. Clerk to see Mr Nash.

Wallbridge Warehouse, Sanitary Arrangements. Estimate sent in by Mr Hopson, tenant, produced and left over to next meeting.
Framilode Long Row. Trespass of stove pipe Mr Bourne. Mrs Bourne agreed to pay quit rent of one shilling a year and would write to the Company.
Wharf House at Wallbridge. Mrs Lee deceased.
Ebley Mills, Sluice Gates, Damaged. Not now possible to obtain supply of water to Canal from the Frome at Ebley. Letter from Messrs Marling & Evans. Decision to reply asking for any suggestions for an arrangement regarding necessary repairs. Lockkeeper Wiggall, with his father, gave their report as to the damage to the Committee.
Stonehouse Wharf. Mr W G Hooper had enquired whether Company still wished to sell Wharf. Mr Hooper in April 1949 had made definite offer of £400.
Stroudwater Navigation Co. Abandonment. Sealed copy of Resolution to apply for an abandonment sent to Ministry of Transport.
Property at Dudbridge. Mr Rowell’s suggestion that Lock Cottage should be put up for sale by auction and Mr Wiggall’s enquiry as to whether Navigation would consider an offer for sale of all the property ordered to stand over pending abandonment.
Framilode Long Row. Trespass pipe. No letter received from Mr Bourne as promised by his wife.
Ebley Mills. Broken Sluice. Correspondence with Marling & Evans Ltd considered. Clerk to enquire cost of work carried out by them and to agree to pay it if reasonable.
Lodgemore Feeder. Matter left with Clerk to arrange with Strachan & Co and report.

Ebley Mills. Broken Sluice Gate. Messrs Marling had filled up space with boards in place of former lifting gate. Water now to be taken into canal from Frome. Committee appreciated their timely help but enquired cost. No communication received so far.
Wallbridge Basin. Doran Instrument Co purchase. Company not selling any property, pending Abandonment of Canal Order.
Dudbridge Wharf: Cooking Depot, Gloucestershire County Council. Drain to canal. Agreed. Wayleave 2s 6d a year.
Wallbridge Basin. Hayes & Sons Ltd, Tipping. Agreed. Only hard material to be unloaded into Basin.
Lodgemore feeder. Messrs Strachan informed of situation at Lodgemore. Asked to arrange sluices at their mills at Lodgemore so that canal can be fed from the Painswick Stream, as provided by Statute.
Stroudwater Navigation, Abandonment. Representatives of River Severn Board had met Chairman. Board would require aqueduct at Whitminster to be removed so that River Frome could flow openly across bed of canal. Board would be willing to carry out work at expense of Navigation.
Newtown Lock. Baffle. Difficulty in obtaining necessary steel. Mr Flowers considering reinforced concrete finish.
Wallbridge Basin. Sale. Doran Instrument Co. Stand over.
Ocean Bridge. Stonehouse Court Estate. Mrs Winterbotham. Letter from agent, Jackson Stops, Cirencester re state of the Ocean bridge. Formal complaint to be made to Drainage Board. Their contractors mainly responsible for present condition. Request to make good all damage. Immediate repairs now necessary. Clerk to have them carried out. Letters to Drainage Board and Jackson Stops.

Mr Hopson to effect temporary repairs to entrance gate at Dudbridge Wharf, if found to be dangerous. Proposed purchase of remainder of Dudbridge Wharf by Mr Wiggall to stand over. He should be given a licence to hold a fair at Easter 1953 at Stonehouse Wharf.
