A2: Application to revive the earlier (1730) scheme.
My LORD!
THO' it may have been generally concluded that making the Stroudwater River Navigable was an impracticable Scheme, I have ever been of a different Opinion, and always wished for an Opportunity to revive it; and finding, about Twelve Months' since, a Spirit for such an Undertaking begin to arise, I endeavoured to improve it, by promoting a Subscription to defray the Expence of Surveying and fresh calculating the same, which hath been productive of the following Scheme, now submitted to the Publick, and begging the Sanction oy your Lordship's Patronage.
The distinguished Honours you deservedly inherit, and those your Lordship is invested with in this County, together with your near Situation (when in the Country) to that large and valuable Branch of
