BYE LAW
Made at the General Meeting 11th October, 1791,
IV. Whereas many Inconveniences have arisen
from Vessels unloading their Cargoes in the Locks
upon the Canal and Damages may in consequence
arise.—-RESOLVED and we do hereby Order that no
Person or Persons in future shall be permitted to
discharge or take in their Cargo or Cargoes of any
Vessel or Vessels whatsoever or any part thereof
whilst they remain in the said Locks, under the
Penalty of Forty Shillings for each and every such
Offence, and that this Resolution be fairly drawn out
and considered as a Bye Law under the Powers of the
Act of Parliament, and that the Seal of the Company
be affixed to the same, and that proper Notices be
placed at the Entrance of the Canal.

Made at the General Meeting 8th April, 1800,
Relative to Navigating the Canal with Three able
Persons to each Barge.
V. WHEREAS, the good and orderly using of the
Navigation requires that there should be a sufficient
number of Bargemen employed in and attending upon
each Barge Navigating the Canal. It 1s HEREBY
ENACTED AND DECLARED, that from and after the Ist day
of June next ensuing the date hereof, no Barge shall
be navigated in or upon the Canal or any part thereof,
unless there shall be, at the least, Three able and
sufficient Persons belonging to and attending upon
every Barge so navigated during the time when such
Barge shall be so navigated upon the Canal, or any
part thereof. AND IT IS HEREBY FURTHER ENACTED
