BYE LAW

Made at a General Half-Yearly Meeting of the Pro-
prietors of the Stroudwater Navigation, held at the
GEORGE Inn, Stroud, on Wednesday, the 27th Day
of October, 1830.

To prevent Boats and other Vessels from passing
through the Locks without opening both the Gates.

XIV. ORDERED AND ENACTED as a Bye Law, for the
good and orderly using the said Navigation, That if
any Boat or other Vessel shall be passed into any
Lock upon the said Navigation, without both the
entrance Gates of such Lock having been first opened,
and being continued open during the passing of such
Boat or other Vessel into such Lock. Or, if any Boat
or other Vessel shall be passed out of any Lock upon
the said Navigation, without both the Gates of exit
of such Lock having been first opened, and being
continued open during the passing of such Boat or
other Vessel out of such Lock, every Person offending
in any of these particulars, and being convicted thereof
before any Justice of the Peace upon the oath of one
or more credible witness or witnesses, as also the
Master or Owner, Masters or Owners of such Boat or
other Vessel, shall for every such offence, forfeit and
pay any sum not exceeding Five Pounds, nor less
than Forty Shillings; to be fixed by the Magistrate
before whom the penalty shall be sought to be
recovered.

BYE LAW

Made at a Special General Meeting of the Proprietors
of this Navigation, held at the Company’s Office, at
WALLBRIDGE, on Thursday, the 15th day of
December, 1831.

To compel the Masters or Owners of Vessels, to shew
the Lock-Ticket of the Canal they passed through last.

XV. ORDERED, that it be enacted as a Bye Law,
