Summary

Horse purchased for 14 guineas.
Richard Davis to deliver oak scantlings for lock to Chippenham Platt by 7th June, and immediately cut out scantlings needed to finish Bristol Road lock.
Mr James allowed gravel at 6d a cart but he must screen it through a screen we will supply.
Committee requested reasons why bridges should be present width and not contracted to near the width of the locks.

At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 15^th Day of May 1777
Present: James Winchcombe, Joseph Wathen, Robert Ellis, Thomas Baylis, Durley Wintle, Benjamin Grazebrook, John Hollings, Freame Arundell, Thomas White, Timothy Lewis.
Read the Minutes of the Last Meeting.
M^r Lingard hath produced the Measurement of the Lands ordered at the last Meeting.
A Horse have been purchased for fourteen Guineas.
Agree'd with M^r R^d Davis for Oak Timber for one Lock, toe be delivered at Chippenhams Platt in proper Scantlings on or before the 7^th of June nest at the Price of 21^d per foot Cube, and imediately to Cut out such Scantlings as are wanted to finish the Lock at Bristol Road, at the said price ~~ to be cut out of such Timber as shall be approved of by a Person that the Company shall appoint.
Ordered that M^r Merrett do Measure the several Lands lately Survey'd by M^r Lingard, in the Course of next week.
Allowed M^r James the Gravel at Sixpence per Card Load on Condition he Screens it thro' a Screen We shall provide for him.
Upon debating about the breadth of the Bridges, it was agreed to have the reasons delivered at our next Meeting, why they should be their present Breadth and not Contracted to near the Width of the Locks.
M^r King requests that provision may be made to pay Lord Middleton as his Lordships Steward will be at Wheatenhurst on Tuesday Sennight. ~~ M^r Grazebrook is desired to Attend on this Business.
Ordered a Bill to be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sim of Four Hundred pounds.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the 29^th Instant at two o Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn at Wheatenhurst.
