At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 12^th Day of June 1777
Present: Robert Ellis, William Knight, James Winchcombe, Thomas Baylis, Joseph Wathen, Thomas White, John Hollings, Benjamin Grazebrook, Durley Wintle.
Read the Minutes of the Last Meeting.
Received an Acc^t from M^r Wathen for Hay bought by the Company, and expences attending to his and M^r Capells Journey to London £35..3^s. Ordered the same to be paid. [Hay 30..0..0, Journey to London 5..3..0]
Ordered that M^r Lingard do go to Farmer Stephenses and see what Bricks remains there at this time that the freight are paid for by the Company, and Report the same with their present State at the next Meeting.
M^r Grazebrook is desired to go to M^r W^m Price Timber Merchant at Glocester, and inform him if he do not immediately fulfill his Contract for TImber with the Company, M^r Lane will be consulted upon the Lawfull mode of proceeding to Oblidge him to fulfill the same.
Ordered that M^r Pashley do imediately deliver a Bill of Scantlings of all Timber used in the Lock to M^r Rich^d Davis ~~~ the Land Tyes and back work of the Lock not to be in the above Bill of Scantlings.
M^r Phillips Land and Timber have been taken into consideration but must defferr our final resolutions upon it till the Grass is mowed.
M^r William Clutterbuck is not paid, as Ordered in our Last Meeting.
Ordered that M^r Lingard do, at every Meeting, Report what Leakage appears through the banks.
Ordered that no Slack Coals be (in future) measured but with Basketts to be found by the Company, which Order is to be attended to by M^r Smith.
Ordered that M^r ….. be wrote to by M^r Grazebrook for the weight of the Tree Used for the Companys Waggon and Cart.
Ordered that a Table expressing every Clause in the Act relative to the Navigating the Canal with the Penaltys Attending any Breach of them, be prepared to be put up at the entrance of the Canal.
Ordered that M^r Deagues Acc^t e Settled, and he discharged till further Orders.
Ordered that Sam^l Smith do Attend the telling of all the bricks and that he do not pass any but well burnt good bricks, and report the Quantity passed at the next Meeting, and Likewise what Quantity are made at the different Yards.
Ordered that the bricks at Wallbridge be sold at 17^s per Thousand for ready money.
Ordered that a Bill be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sum of Four Hundred Pounds.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the 26^th Instant at Ten o Clock in the Morning at Chippenhams Platt, and from thence to the George Inn at Stroud at five o Clock in the afternoon.
