At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 18^th day of December 1777
Present: James Winchcombe, Robert Ellis, Joseph Wathen, Freame Arundell, Thomas Baylis, Thomas White, John Hollings, Benjamin Grazebrook, Durley Wintle.
Read the Minutes of the Last Meeting.
The articles not Yet Received from M^r Aldridge, nor Miss Browns Assent to the Variation of the Line of the Canal.
Mess^rs Winchcombe & Grazebrook intend waiting on M^rs White to Settle the Damages, etc, the first Opportunity.
M^r Reddalls Account of his Land Settled and paid.
The Lands of Jn^o Andrews Esq^r Settled and paid.
Ordered that M^r Colborne be employed to draw the Conveyance of M^r Pettats Land to M^r Andrews. ~~ Ordered that M^r Richard Pettat be paid for his Land next Week.
M^r Grazebrook has examined the Line of the Canal pricked out in M^r Andrews Land, and find it within the Limitts.
M^r Barnard has delivered his Account for the Brickmaking. M^r Smith is Ordered to examine what Bricks lies at the Lock Building on M^r James Land, and also what remains at the Brick Yard on M^r James's Land. Objected to his Charge of Digging & Wheeling Clay out of the River.
Ordered that M^r Smith do also examine, and Stack up the good Bricks at all the other Brick Yards, laying by all that are unfit for use, and that he take with him proper Assistance for the purpose.
Ordered that our Clerk do again waite on Mess^rs Hawker & Cook and pay them for the land late M^r Richard Cooks, in Order that it may be entered upon.
Ordered that M^r B: Grazebrook do again waite on Henry Wyatt Esq^r and tender him the money for his Land.
Edmund Phillips Esq^r Consents to receive the Money for his Land on receiving M^r Winchcombe's Assent to the account.
John Organ has deffer'd giving his answer till the next Meeting.
The Guard Walls at the Bridges are Secured.
Ordered that M^r Ellis be desired to inquire if a piece of Land may be Rented in Stonehouse ham, that is convenient to communicate with the Land late M^r Andrews.
Agreed with M^r Jn^o Couch for Stone to Supply all the remaining Locks to Walbridge, upon the Terms already agree'd with him, and also to Supply all the Lime Stone for the remainder of the Work at Eighteen pence per Ton ~~ an Article to be drawn by our Clerk to Confirm the agreement between the Committee and M^r Couch under the penal Sum of One Hundred Pounds, under the Seal of the Company.
Ordered a Bill to be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sum of FIve Hundred Pounds. ~~ Adjourned the Meeting to Monday the 29^th Instant at 4 o Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
