Proper stanks are to be immediately made to prevent the riens from running into the canal.
The late rainy weather prevented the flood gates from being put in.
At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 3^d October 1782
Present: John Hollings, Thomas Baylis, James Dallaway, Nathaniel Jones, Fream Arundell, Ben^m Grazebrook.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
Receed a Letter from M^r Cambridge of the 25^th July last, informing us that he will lay the proposal (respecting the Rien Ditches at Whitmister) before the other Persons concerned. ~~ Not having any thing further upon the Business; Ordered that proper Stanks be immediately made to prevent the said Riens from running into the Canal, and in case the said Stanks shall be destroyed at any time, that attention be immediately paid to repairing the same.
Ordered that the Repairs of the Brick and Stone work which are not Compleated, be deffered till next Spring.
The late Rainy Weather has prevented the Flood Gates from being put in, Ordered that the same be defferr'd till a proper Season.
The Crane is altered agreeable to the order of last Meeting.
Ordered that the Ballance of Ben^n Pashleys Old Account amounting to the Sum of £50:17:10, together with three other Bills amounting to the Sum of £14:14:8 making in the whole the sum of £65:12:6 be paid, and a full discharge taken for the same.
Our Clerk Reported that M^r Peach proposes to leave the Settlement of a Compensation in lieu of a Bridge on his Land, to two indifferent People as Arbitration. Ordered that our Clerk do inform M^r Peach in order to prevent any further trouble in this Business, The Committee do agree to pay Twenty Guineas rather than have any dispute about the Bridge.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the 9^th Instant at Ten o'Clock in the Morning at the George Inn in Stroud.
