Summary

Clerk has written to John Yates but has not received any answer. Another letter is to be written to him on the subject.
Our clerk reported that John Hunt, on the 10 of September, had damaged the lower gates of the first lock at Dudbridge by running his vessel carelessly against it and breaking the same so as to render it necessary to put up a new one. Clerk to detain his vessel (the first time it be in the canal) until a reasonable compensation be made for such damage.
Deal baulks be provided for cutting planks for the gates and also that scantlings of oak be provided sufficient for two lock gates and kept in store in case of accident.
Mr Cook having complained of a waste of water through the weirs of the locks at Dudbridge to the injury of his mill. The weirs at these locks are to be contracted (by way of experiment) in order to remedy the evil complained of.
Bill to be drawn on the treasurer for the sum of £483 16s 0½d for the use navigation.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee room at Walbridge om Monday the 7^th of October 1805
Present: Rowles Scudamore, Benj^n Grazebrook, Rev^d Jos^h Colborne, Nath^l Jones, John Allaway.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting. Continued the Orders of the last Meeting.
Our Clerk reported that he had written to Jn^o Yates agreeable to the order of the last Meeting but have not received any answer. Ordered that another Letter be written to him on the Subject. Our Clerk reported that Jn^o Hunt on the 10^th of Sep^r last had damaged the Lower Gates of the first Lock at Dudbridge by running his Vessel carelessly against it, and breaking the same so as to render it necessary to put up a new one. Ordered that our Clerk do detain his Vessel (the first time it be in the canal) untill a reasonable compensation be made for such Damage.
Ordered that a few Deal Baulks be provided for cutting Planks for the Gates, and also that Scantlings of Oak be provided sufficient for two Lock Gates, and kept in store in case of accident ~~~ M^r Cook having complained of a waste of Water that the Users of the Locks at Dudbridge to the injury of his Mill.
Ordered that the Users of these Locks be contracted (by way of experiment) in order to remedy the evil complained of.
Ordered that a Bill be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sum of Four Hundred, eighty three Pounds sixteen Shillings and one halfpenny for the use of the Navigation.
Adjourned this Meeting to Tuesday the nineteenth of November next at three oClock in the Afternoon at the Committee room at Walbridge
