Summary

Clerk presented a drawing of the Island with the coal wharf belonging to Mr Hicks as measured by made by Sam Keene, being one acre, one rood and twenty-nine perches; also a valuation of the materials of the house occupied by William Beard amounting to £27 9s. Clerk to prepare a conveyance.
Sam Bird to be paid sixty guineas on his finishing a new barge by the 1 June.
House be erected on the Island at Chippenham Platt for the residence of William Beard. Messrs B and J Grazebrookto fix on the most suitable spot for house.
The £15 offered by the Thames & Severn committee for building an aqueduct to convey the Badbrook under the Thames & Severn Canal, was deemed totally inadequate. Committee would not accept less than one moiety of the expense of the work.
Edward Hains applied for an increase of salary in consequence of his being subject to pay the property tax and of the dearness of provisions. His salary be increased to £100 per year on condition that he devote the whole of his time and attention to promote the interest of the Company.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Rooms at Walbridge on Tuedsday the 24^th of Feb 1807
Present: Samuel Wathen, Joseph Grazebrooke, Rev^d J Colborne, Rowles Scudamore, Sir Sam^l Wathen, Nath^l Wathen, Jn^o Allaway.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
Continued the orders of the last Meeting.
Our Clerk presented a drawing of the Island with the Coal Wharf belonging to M^r Hicks on account of their admeasurement made by Sam^l Keene being together One Acre, One Rood and twenty nine Perches, also a Valuation of the Materials of the House occupied by W^m Beard amounting to Twenty seven Pounds, nine Shillings. Ordered that M^r Clark be instructed to prepare a Conveyance and that on its execution M^r Hicks be paid the amount of the Land above mentioned after the rate of £98 per Acre deducting the amount of the Materials of the House in occupation of W^m Beard.
Sam^l Bird having attended pursuant to the wish of the Committee, a Contract was entered into to pay him Sixty Guineas on his finishing a new barge on or before the 1^st of June ensuing according to the particulars contained in his Estimate left in possession of our Clerk. Ordered that a House be erected on the Island at Chippenhams Platt for the residence of W^m Beard of the following dimensions Viz: 28 feet by 14 feet in the clear to contain a Ground Floor, an Upper Floor and a Garrett, with a smaller Lean to behind for a Brewhouse. Mess^rs B & J Grazebrook, or either of them, are requested to take an early opportunity to fix on the most suitable spot on the Island on which to build the House.
The Committee having taken into consideration the proposal of the Thames and Severn Committee to pay £15 towards the erection of an Aqueduct to convey the Badbrook Water under the Thames Canal it appearing that the Sum proposed to be paid, was totaly inadequate to the expence to be incurred. Resolved that the proposal be rejected, and that such determination be notified to the Thames and Severn Committee, with an explicit declaration that our Committee will not accept any thing less that one Moiety of the expence of the Work above mentioned, according to their own proposal and that in default of their compliance therewith our Company will look to them for an indemnity for any further expence that may be incurred in consequence of the Badbrook Water emptying itself into the Thames and Severn Canal and bringing with it a large quantity of Mud and Dirt .
Our Clerk Ew^d Haines having applied for an increase of Sallary in consequence of his being subject to pay the Property Tax and of the dearness of provisions, Resolved that his Sallary be increased to One Hundred Pounds per Year to commence after the present Half Year on condition that he he do devote the whole of his time and attention to promote the Interest of the Company. Adjourned this Meeting to Monday the thirteenth of April next at three o'Clock in the Afternoon at the Committee room at Walbridge.
